Ole Miss Boys and Girls Hoops Looking To Rebound

Girls Basketball

After falling to Ft. Wayne Bishop Luers back on November 19th, the Lady Indians are ready to take on the Lady Squaws from Bellmont. Bellmont will be the host of tonight’s ballgame scheduled for a 6pm JV tip-off. Bellmont enters this evening’s matchup with an overall record of 4-3, meanwhile for Mississinewa they enter with an 4-2 record.

The Mississinewa Indians boys basketball team has played two very tough opponents to start the season Marion and Huntington North. Last Wednesday the Indians traveled to the Bill Green Athletic Arena to take on the Marion Giants. The Indians fell in that matchup 82-63 despite a 28 point performance from Indian senior Lucas Asbury. On Saturday the Indians hosted the Huntington North Vikings for a triple header. The C-Team would pull off the victory in game one winning 33-21 to improve to 2-0 on the year, they will play tonight at Marion at 6pm. The JV Indians also took home the victory 48-44 to improve to 1-1 on the year. The JV Indians were led in scoring by Courtney Jones 23 points, Sophomore Nolan Quaderer hit a stepback three point shot to give the Indians the lead late in the game that ended up being the “dagger” to the Vikings it was an all around solid team performance for coach Luedkte and the JV Indians. The Varsity Indians battled very hard all night long but ended up falling 66-52, the Indians were led in scoring by Senior Hayden Ulerick with a career high 39 points. The Indians are back in action tomorrow night for a triple header against Norwell starting at 5pm.

Tonight kicks off the season for Mississinewa Wrestling led by Coach Pat Pierson. Tonight will be the first of only two home matches this season for the Indians. There will be 14 weight classes plus exhibitions matches featured on the mats, come on out to Mississinewa High School tonight pack the gym and be loud and proud support the Indians as they take on Marion at 6pm.

2021 Civil Rights Program . Mississinewa High School Band & Choir along with Principal Steve Quaderer would like to invite our community to attend this great performing arts program on Friday morning at 9:30am at Mississinewa High School. Students of MCSC will not attend this program, but will either watch live or later during the day. Everyone can watch live at YouTube.com/c/TribeTVMHS.

MHS Girls Basketball . Alexandria topped the Lady Indians last night in Gas City 63-34. Mia Catey led Mississinewa in the CIC battle with 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals. Kate Ramey added 6 points, and Megan Stanley scored 5 with 6 rebounds to round out the top of the Lady Indians stat sheet. Coach Friday and the team face Elwood on Saturday at home.

MHS Wrestling . Mississinewa split meets in the Raider Three-Way last night at Shenandoah. The Indians lost to Connersville 42-36, but defeated the host Raiders 60-24. Ole Miss is back on the mat next Tuesday at Marion.

RJB Girls Basketball . No results were reported for the Junior Lady Indians last night.

Schedule Updates . Boys Varsity Basketball will face Blackford on February 4 at 7:00pm. The Lady Indians will play Blackford on January 25.

Boys Basketball C-Team will not play Elwood this weekend, nor will they face Marion on February 10. Boys Hoops will tip against Elwood at 6:00pm.

The RJB Lady Indians will not face Kokomo on February 9, that game has been cancelled.

RJB Wrestlers will not participate in the Frankfort Invitational on March 6, as it has been cancelled.


Upcoming Events
Today, the R.J. Baskett Boys send the 7th grade AB teams to Madison Grant while the 8th grade AB teams host the Argylls at 6:00pm. The tip in Fairmount will be 5:00pm.

Tomorrow, Coach Reed and the Indians travel to Elwood at 6:00pm. Remember that there will not be a C-Team contest.

Looking ahead to this weekend, the Boys C-Team will tip at Eastbrook on Saturday morning at 8:00am, R.J. Baskett 7th grade boys and girls will compete in Fairmount in the Grant Four starting at 9:00am, and the Lady Indians host Elwood at 6:00pm on MCSC Athletics YouTube for a Saturday CIC Showdown.

Boys Hoops Battle Apaches, Eagles

MHS Boys Basketball . The Varsity Indians won last night in Wabash 54-46 with a CIC weekend ahead at Elwood. No individual report was made at time of report for the varsity team. The Junior Varsity team won big against the Apaches 49-21. All Indians scored, with Ty Newsom leading the charge with 12 points.

RJB Boys Basketball . The A-Teams swept the Oak Hill Eagles last night in the 7th and 8th grade games. At RJB, the 8th grade A-Team won 30-18 with Jaxon Ott leading the way with 10 points. The B-Team lost 51-37. Lio Matamoros had 15 points. At Oak Hill, the 7th grade A-Team won 43-25. Seth Yoder (11) and Daylong Davis (10) led the Junior Indians. The B-Team lost 26-25. Edward Maurer and Eli Fritch each had 10 points.
