Wrestlers Fall to Raiders

Tribe Sports Report

MHS Wrestling . The Indians lost last night to Southern Wells 36-30 on the road. Nick Coulter (126), John Hall (182), Kyler Funk (195), Andruw Cruz (220), and Jason Arbogast (285) picked up individual wins for the Indians.

MHS 9th Grade Basketball . The 9th grade Indians lost to the Wes-Del Warriors in Gaston last night 60-28. 

RJB Girls Basketball . The Junior Lady Indians swept the Apaches last night in both contests. The 8th grade defeated Wabash 25-17 (Bushman 10pts, Austin 9pts), and the 7th grade finished the sweep with a 56-11 victory (Morrison 19pts, Sullivan 17pts).

Tonight’s Events . Boys Basketball hosts Madison Grant in a triple-header starting at 5:00pm with the freshman team taking on the Argylls on the main court. The junior varsity and varsity teams will follow in the order. The girls JV team will play in the Aux-Gym at 5:00pm against the Argylls.

Weekend Events . Girls Basketball journeys to Knightstown to the historic Hoosier Gym to take on the Madison Grant Argylls in a CIC classic at noon.

Today’s Sports World Update

NBA . Indiana takes on Philly tonight at the Wells Fargo Center (7:30pm, ESPN).

NFL . The Chargers beat the Chiefs last night 29-28 heading into Week 15. Indianapolis faces Dallas on Sunday (1:00pm, FOX).

NCAA Men’s Basketball . #1 Kansas hosts #17 Villanova at noon on Saturday in Allen Fieldhouse (ESPN). On Saturday evening, #4 Gonzaga faces another tough ACC team as they travel to the Dean Smith Center to take on #12 North Carolina at 7:00pm (ESPN2).

NCAA Football . Bowl season hits full steam on Saturday. #21 Fresno State faces Arizona State in the Las Vegas Bowl as the NCAA football season builds towards it’s finale.

Soccer . Manchester City and Everton open up the Premier League  action for the weekend in the morning game. Both teams are coming off of draws in their previous match.

MHS Wrestling . Mississinewa lost on the mat to the visiting Alexandria Tigers 40-39 in a CIC bout. Individual winners for the Indians included Jason Arbogast, Andruw Cruz, Kyler Funk, John Hall, Charlie Brookshire, Trystan Stone, and Courtland Smith. Tre Ice picked up a win in the junior varsity contest.

RJB Boys Basketball . The 8th grade boys basketball team defeated Blackford last night 55-29. Crick led the team with 15, Cook and Smith both added 12.

Tonight’s Events . The Lady Indians welcome the Yorktown Tigers tonight for a varsity-only basketball event at 7:00pm.

NBA . Indiana plays Milwaukee tonight at 7:00pm in Indianapolis.

Soccer . Several teams advanced to the knock-out rounds as the Champions League group stage continued last night. Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid were the top two in Group A. Barcelona and Spurs advance from Group B. PSG turned their group around and came out ahead of Liverpool in Group C. FC Porto and Schalke advance from Group D.

Tribe Sports Report

MHS Wrestling . Mississinewa took part in the Elkhart Memorial Invitational on Saturday where they placed 5th unofficially as a team. Courtland Smith took first place at 145, while Kyler Funk and Andruw Cruz took second. Nick Coulter earned a third place finish in the tournament.

MHS Girls Basketball . The Lady Indians took on Oak Hill on the road Saturday in a CIC contest in which the Lady Eagles entered highly ranked and locked in on the defensive leaderboard. Mississinewa lost 63-23 after nearly two quarters of scoreless play. Ally Hewitt led the Lady Indians with 7 points. The junior varsity dropped their contest to Oak Hill earlier that morning. 

MHS Boys Basketball . Coach James Reed picked up his first win of his career against the State Champion Oak Hill Eagles on Friday night. The Indians captured a CIC victory 69-60 forcing 25 Eagle turnovers. Colin Yoder had a stand-out performance with 15 points including some work behind the arc that turned up the energy in the gymnasium. The JV also won 38-33.

Tonight’s Events . RJB Girls Basketball will host McCulloch tonight while the boys hit the road to take on the Wabash Apaches. Both junior high events will start at 6:00pm.

Today’s Sports World Update

NFL . Indianapolis moved to 7-6 with a win over the Texans 24-21 this weekend. Andrew Luck was 27-41 with 399 yards and 2 touchdowns. T.Y. Hilton had 9 catches for 199 yards. The Colts face Dallas in Indy on Sunday, December 16 at 1:00pm (FOX).

NCAA Football . The only game this week was an Armed Services event. Army defeated Navy 17-10 on Saturday. On Saturday, December 29th #2 Clemson will take on #3 Notre Dame in the first semifinal of the CFP in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl at 4:00pm (ESPN). #4 Oklahoma plays #1 Alabama at 8:00pm in the Capital One Orange Bowl to finish off the mathup in the national championship (ESPN).

NBA . The Pacers will host the Washington Wizards tonight at Bankers Life at 7:00pm. Indiana is 16-10 and 8-4 at home.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . The big story this weekend was the fall of #1 Gonzaga on Sunday to the #7 Vols of Tennessee 76-73. Admiral Schofield led all scorers with 30 points in the win. Kansas will most likely top the rankings today as the new top team in the nation.

NHL . Boston took down the Senators 2-1 in overtime on Sunday while New Jersey lost to Anaheim in a shootout 6-5.

Soccer . After Week 16 in the EPL, Liverpool still sits atop the table by one point over Manchester City with one game left today between Everton and Watford.Golf . Jon Rahm won the Hero World Challenge this weekend at Albany. Rahm took home $1 million with a 4 stroke win over Tony Finau.
