Boys Basketball Launches Season

Tribe Sports Report

MHS Boys Basketball . The Indians had two contests during Thanksgiving Break. The team opened the season with a 64-52 win at Manchester on Wednesday. Thabit Gault led the Indians with 27 points. On Saturday Coach Evertts and the Indians hosted Huntington North. The game came down to the final play, but Mississinewa lost 36-30 in their home opener. Anthony Horton had 12 points against the Vikings. The Junior Varsity squad defeated Manchester 43-28, and on Saturday lost to Huntington North 36-33. Tai McClung led the Indians in scoring in both games with 14 points at Manchester and 6 points on Saturday.

Tonight’s Events . Girls Basketball travels to Bellmont to battle the Lady Braves at 6:00pm.


Today’s Sports World Update

NCAA Football . The Notre Dame Fighting Irish lost to Stanford 38-20. The Boilermakers took down Indiana 31-24 to earn a spot in a Bowl game.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . The Butler Bulldogs beat Ohio State in the PK80 Tournament 67-66 in overtime. The two big showcase games last night, that could be the Final Four in March, featured North Caroline, Michigan State, Duke, and Florida. The Spartans defeated the Tar Heels in the PK80 Victory bracket 63-45. Duke came back from a 17 point deficit to beat Florida 87-84 in the final minutes of the game.

NCAA Women’s Basketball . Purdue defeated Marist 61-47. Notre Dame defeated South Carolina in the Gulf Coast Showcase 92-85.

NFL . The Tennessee Titans defeated the Indianapolis Colts 20-16 this week. Jacoby Brissett was 17-29 with 196 yards. Frank Gore had 17 carries for 62 yards and a touchdown.

NBA . The 11-9 Indiana Pacers will play Orlando tonight. Orlando is 8-12 on the season.

Girls Basketball 1-1 on the Weekend

Girls Basketball . The Lady Indians had mixed results this weekend. On Friday the team defeated Manchester 64-55. Ally Hewitt led the scoring with 16 points followed by Erika Foy (15), Alayna Webb (13), and Halle Planck (8). Planck and Foy each grabbed 6 boards for the Lady Indians. On Saturday Bishop Luers came to Mississinewa and took the win 58-44. The Lady Knights outscored the Lady Indians 19-9 in the opening quarter. Erika Foy was the only player in double digits with 13 points as well as 11 rebounds. Turnovers plagued the team as they totaled 24 in the game. Coach Tandy commented, “We were confident being down at halftime because we were there last night and responded. We just haven’t gotten over the hump yet. We are gaining the experience needed to play such well coached and experienced teams, but it takes time. It is a process.”

Today’s Sports Update

NCAA Football . On Saturday, Indiana defeated Rutgers 41-0, Notre Dame beat Navy 24-17, and Purdue beat Iowa 24-15.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . Indiana defeated USF 70-53 in the Hoosiers Tip-off Classic, and Ball State lost to Oregon 95-71.

NCAA Women’s Basketball . Notre Dame defeated Oregon State 72-67.

NBA . The Indiana Pacers defeated the Miami Heat 120-95. Bojan Bogdanovic led the Pacers with 26 points.

Tribe Sports Report

Boys Basketball . Mississinewa showed up last night to the Raider Dome for it’s final tune-up before the season begins on November 22 at Manchester. The Indians handled Southern Wells very well and Coach Evertts saw a lot of positives out of the team. The Indians open the season against the Squires next Wednesday in Manchester before returning home that Saturday for their home opener against Huntington North.

Girls Basketball . The Lady Indians host the Manchester Squires tonight and the Bishop Luers Knights on Saturday. Both of these games can be watched live on MCSC Athletics YouTube provided by TribeTV. The action begins both nights at 5:45pm.

Tonight’s Events . Girls Basketball hosts Manchester at 6:00pm.


Today’s Sports Update

NBA . The Indiana Pacers take on the Detroit Pistons tonight at 7:00pm. The Pistons are 10-4 and the Pacers are 7-8 heading into this contest.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . Notre Dame defeated Chicago State 105-66.

RJB Boys lose to Kokomo, High School Media Day

RJB Boys Basketball . The RJB Boys Basketball team lost in both contests last night to Kokomo Middle School. The 7th grade team lost 41-40. Jayden Crick scored 10 points. The 8th grade team lost 45-41, and Hayden Ulerick led the team with 16 points.

Media Day . Mississinewa High School will hold “Winter Sports Media Day” tonight from 2:45-3:30pm. Coaches should check their email for complete details. A second media day will take place on Tuesday, November 21 for Yearbook pictures. The schedule for this event is….

  • Girls Basketball from 2:55-3:05
  • 9th Grade Boys Basketball from 3:05-3:10
  • Wrestling from 3:10-3:20

NBA . The Indiana Pacers defeated Memphis last night 116-113. Darren Collison had 30 points.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . Indiana lost to Seton Hall 84-68, Oklahoma topped Ball State 108-69, and Maryland defeated Butler 79-65.

NCAA Women’s Basketball . Butler defeated Murray State 88-59, Ball State beat Lipscomb 84-46, and Miami of Ohio lost to the Boilermakers 75-66.

RJB Boys Basketball . The 7th Grade boys basketball team opened up the evening with a win at Frankton 36-35. Betts lead the junior Indians with 13 points. Hoppes had 9 points. The 8th grade team also won 37-20 with Ancil scoring 17 points and Asbury adding 10 points.

Tonight’s Events . Girls Basketball travels to Bluffton for a 6:00pm JV tip against the Tigers. Watch the Lady Indians tonight live on YouTube provided by TribeTV.


Today’s Sports Update

NCAA Men’s Basketball . Notre Dame defeated Mt. Saint Marys 88-62.

NCAA Women’s Basketball . Ball State moves to 2-0 as they defeated Missouri State 70-58.

The big event for the night is the Champions Classic Men’s Basketball held in Chicago as Duke (1) faces off against Michigan State (2) at 7:00pm on ESPN. Kansas (4) will take the court at 9:30pm agains the Kentucky Wildcats (7).

Weekend Recap: Girls Basketball Wins Big

Football . The Mississinewa Indians tremendous season came to an end Friday in Greenwood, Indiana as the Woodsman upended their semi-state hopes 34-27. With hundreds of Mississinewa fans in attendance and over 700 watching at home, the Indians fought hard for their fans and came out on a mission. Dustin Patton seamed to ignite the fans with an early defensive show, as the Indians claimed early control. In the end, touchdowns from Senior Cade McCoin as well as three from Heisman Skeens were not enough to overcome Greenwood. Junior Sam Tarpein added 3 extra points for the Indians.

Girls Basketball . The Lady Indians defeated Maconaquah 93-26 on Saturday. The Junior Varsity also won 49-31. Girls basketball will be on the road at Bluffton early this week before another two-game stretch this weekend at home. Both home games can be watched live on MCSC Athletics YouTube.

There are no events tonight (Monday, November 13).

NBA . The Pacers lost to Houston last night 118-95. Victor Oladipo led the Pacers with 28 points.

NFL . The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Colts 20-17 on Sunday. Chester Rogers had one reception on 104 yards with a touchdown for Indianapolis.
