Fones Sets School Record while Indians Pour in the Wins

Mississinewa Track & Field competed in the 2017 CIC Meet the past two nights at Oak Hill High School. The boys placed third (84) behind Eastbrook (192) and Oak Hill (162.5). The girls placed fourth (79) as Oak Hill took the top girls team mark (160). Brennan Butche won the 3200m (9:33.86). Carli Fones won the 100m and set a new school record in the 200m (26.57).


Girls Tennis recorded another win at Yorktown last night. Here is what Coach Fleming had to say, “On Thursday, The OleMiss Tennis Team traveled to Yorktown, where they escaped with a 4-1 victory.   Three of the matches went into a third set.  The team played very well and responded well to the challenges on each court.  Mississinewa has now won 11 of the last 12 matches and owns a record of 13-3.  The Indians will host Western on Friday before playing in the FW Concordia Invitational on Saturday.” The Junior Varsity tied Yorktown 5-5.


The only loss of the night came at Eastbrook in Softball. The Lady Indians lost 1-2 to the Panthers. Erika Foy pitched a complete game giving up only three hits with five strikeouts and two walks. Lexi Cruzan was 1 of 1 with a double and an RBI. The Junior Varsity defeated Eastbrook 10-2 in 6 innings of play. Berryhill pitched the complete game (3 hits, 9 Ks, 3 walks). Bartel and Herring led the offense going 2 for 2.


Baseball defeated Eastbrook 5-2. They are now 4-1 in the CIC. Smith earned the win on the mound after a save from Smalley. McCoin recorded 2 hits and an RBI. Junior Varsity Baseball also won. The Indians beat Tipton at home 19-0. Tyler Jakob pitched the 5 inning shutout. Drew Castanon went 2 for 2 with four runs.


RJB Golf won last night with a team score of 190 over Eastbrook (226) and Oak Hill (254). Corey was the medalist with a 42 followed by Dakin (46), Scott (48), and Walters (54).

Baseball with 3 Wins, Softball Splits

Baseball picks up three wins through it’s ranks last night. The JV defeated Marion 6-0. Owen Felver completed the shutout while Tanner King led the offense going 1 for 2 with a triple. The 8th Grade team defeated Highland 8-1, and the 7th Grade won 7-3.


The Lady Indians were defeated at Frankton in a CIC Softball contest 3-17. Foy gave up 14 hits, with 2 strikeouts, and 5 walks. Offensively the Indians saw hits from Goble, Skeens, Sands, Cruzan, Bennett, and McKee. JV Softball earned the win over Frankton 8-1. Lady Indians had 14 hits. Bartel went 3 of 4, and Vasquez, Berryhill, and Swafford each had two hits. Vasquez pitched the complete game with 0 hits, 11 strikeouts, and 3 walks.

Baseball Bombs 6, Track & Field at Oak Hill, Lady Indians in CIC Action

Indians Baseball was on the road last night at Oak Hill High School. The Indians hit six home runs to defeat the Golden Eagles 10-6, and pick up a great CIC win. Two of those home runs were hit by Nolan Young, and one grand slam by Lucas Richards.

Softball lost to Oak Hill last night 9-14. Foy had the complete game giving up 13 hits, striking out 3, and walking 1. The Indians defense made seven errors at Oak Hill. Their next game is Thursday at Frankton. JV Softball defeated Oak Hill 11-7.

Skeens (2-4, 2RBIs), Patton (2-4), McKee (2-3)


Girls Tennis traveled to Alexandria (CIC) where they swept the singles spots and won a super tie-break at #2 Doubles to win 4-1. The Lady Indians are 9-3 (2-1 CIC) heading into tonight’s home match with Blackford. The JV also won last night 5-2.

Oak Hill came out on top of the 3-Way Track & Field event last night with Alexandria and Mississinewa. The Lady Indians placed second as a team (Oak Hill 92, Mississinewa 38, Alexandria 26). Carli Fones won the 100m along with the relay team in the 4×400.

Boys Track & Field placed third (Oak Hill 70, Alexandria 55, Mississinewa 31). Skeens won the Long Jump, McClung grabbed first in the High Jump, and Cowgill took the 100m.
