Six Wins for Girls Hoops on the Night

Tribe Sports Report

MHS Girls Basketball . The Lady Indians traveled to Alexandria to face the Tigers in a CIC battle that led to an overtime nail-biter. The JV handled business in regulation winning 48-38. The final of the varsity contest was 65-62, as Mississinewa outscored Alexandria 10-7 in the extra period. Halle Planck recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Alayna Webb was the leading scorer with 20 points while pulling down 6 boards. Holli Greer also had a good night scoring 16 points. The Lady Indians will play Elwood on Saturday as they continue their CIC contests.

RJB Girls Basketball . The Junior Lady Indians brought home four wins in an undefeated night. The 6th grade defeated Kokomo 45-10 to start their season 1-0. Sophia Morrison had 16 points. The 6th grade B-Team also won 15-8. The 7th grade girls took down Oak Hill 39-11. Liana Luchetti scored 10 points. The Lady Indians wrapped up the night with an 8th grade win over Oak Hill 36-14. Sophia Corey led the way with 10 points.

Tonight’s Events . RJB Boys Basketball battles the Madison Grant Argylls tonight. The 7th grade team will travel to Madison Grant at 5:00pm, but the 8th grade team will host the Argylls at 6:00pm. Looking ahead at the weekend, MHS Boys Basketball hosts Elwood on Friday. That game can be watched live on YouTube. On Saturday, MHS Wrestling competes in the CIC Meet at Oak Hill. The 7th grade Grant Four Basketball Tournament will be held at Madison Grant on Saturday, and MHS Girls Basketball travels to Elwood at 6:00pm on Saturday evening.


Today’s Sports World Update

NCAA Women’s Basketball . Ball State dropped to 14-3 with a loss to Toledo last night 72-66. The Lady Boilermakers face Northwestern in action tonight at 7:00pm. The big game in women’s basketball tonight is #5 Notre Dame facing off against #6 Tennessee. This big matchup can be seen on ESPN at 7:00pm.

NBA . The 24-20 Indiana Pacers will face Portland tonight at 10:00pm.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . Indiana prepares for a Big Ten showdown with #9 Michigan State on Friday. The Hoosiers will enter that game at 11-7 on the season. That game will be on Fox Sports One at 7:00pm on Friday.

Grant Four Titles for RJB

RJB Basketball . The 8th grade girls and boys competed this weekend in the Grant Four tournament. Both teams won and were crowned the 2018 champions.

MHS Wrestling . The Indians competed at the Elwood Invitational on Saturday. Coach Funk’s team went 2-3 on the day.

Tonight’s Events . There are no events for tonight at Mississinewa High School or RJ Baskett Middle School.


Today’s Sports World Update

NCAA Men’s Basketball . The Indiana Hoosiers defeated Northwestern this weekend 66-46. Today, Butler (13-6) will face Providence at 4:30pm on Fox Sports One.

NCAA Women’s Basketball . This weekend, The Lady Fighting Irish defeated Boston College 89-60, and Butler lost to DePaul 87-65.

NBA . The Pacers took down the Phoenix Suns 120-97. Darren Collison scored 19 points for Indiana.

NFL . The Divisional Playoffs highlighted this weekend in the NFL. The Eagles will face the Minnesota Vikings after defeating the Falcons 15-10. The Vikings took down the Saints 29-24. In the AFC, the Patriots defeated the Titans 35-14 and will now face the Jaguars who defeated the Steelers 45-42.

Hoops vs. Blackford Reschedules

Weather forced the boys and girls basketball teams to reschedule their games this past weekend. Those dates have been released.

MHS Boys Basketball . The Indians will host Blackford on Tuesday, January 3rd at 6:00pm. The C-Team will play in the side gym during the JV contest. The varsity game will follow.

MHS Girls Basketball . Lady Indians will host Blackford on Thursday, January 25 at 6:00pm.

Girls Basketball falls to Giants

MHS Girls Basketball . Lost last night to the Marion Giants 66-40 at Mississinewa High School. Erika Foy was atop the Lady Indians scoring with 20 points. The team plays again on Saturday at home against Blackford in a CIC contest.

RJB Girls Basketball . The 8th grade team defeated Selma 30-24 last night. Catey had 8 points and Nicholson scored 7. The 7th grade girls lost 38-33 with Bushman scoring 12 points.

Tonight’s Events . MHS Boys Basketball hosts the Bellmont Braves tonight at 6:00pm. Fans can watch live on YouTube.


Today’s Sports World Update

NCAA Men’s Basketball . Indiana defeated Penn State 74-70 last night. Juwan Morgan scored 21 points to lead the Hoosiers. Ball State earned a huge MAC win against 7-1 Ohio 75-68. Butler lost to Creighton 85-74, and Purdue edged Michigan 70-69 fueled by Carsen Edwards 19 points.

NBA . The Indiana Pacers at 21-19 face the Heat tonight at 7:00pm.

JV Indians 50/50 and Wrestlers Crown 3 Champions

JV Girls Basketball . The Lady Indians fell in the first round of the Grant Four at Mississinewa tonight to Oak Hill. Taylor Ulerick had 8 points, Jenna Berryhill and Laekyn Emmons had 7 each, and Darah Watson had 4 points. Thanks to Dalton Bishop for reporting these stats and announcing the JV Grant Four.

JV Boys Basketball . The Mississinewa JV Basketball team defeated Oak Hill by a score of 40 to 35 in the first round of the JV Grant 4. The Indians were lead in scoring by Landen Swanner with 11 points and the team will play in the JV championship on December 23rd at approximately 2:00pm.

MHS Wrestling . The Indians competed tonight in the Grant Four at Madison Grant High School. The team crowned three individual weight class champions with Tackett, Smith, and Funk. The team has a little bit of time off before they compete after Christmas.

Tuesday’s Events . MHS Boys Basketball travels to Yorktown for a battle with the Tigers at 6:00pm before competing in the Grant Four Tournament this Saturday at Eastbrook.


Today’s Sports World Update

Heading into the holiday, the Indianapolis Colts are 3-11 after the loss to Denver. The Indiana Pacers are 17-14 coming off of a one point loss to Boston 112-111. Villanova and Michigan State top the polls in Men’s College Basketball. Ball State Women’s Basketball is still undefeated.
