On Tuesday, the varsity girls basketball team lost to Norwell 49-58 in the IHSAA Sectional 23 First Round at Norwell High School. The Lady Indians are now focusing their support on the their youth at R.J. Baskett. The 8th grade girls basketball team defeated Blackford 32-12 to advance to the CIC Championship against Frankton this Saturday morning. The game will be held at Alexandria. The 7th grade girls lost to Madison Grant 22-27 in their CIC tournament run.
Last night the R.J. Baskett 6th, 7th, and 8th grade girls brought home wins. The 8th grade team advanced to the Semi-Finals of the CIC Tournament with a victory over Alexandria 30-27. Webb had 19 points. The 7th grade girls won their opening round game of the CIC Tournament against Alexandria 27-26. Mia Carey had 12 points to lead the Lady Indians. The 6th grade girls A-team defeated Kokomo 42-8. Bowser and Smith each had 10 points to lead the Lady Indians to the win, still early in their season. Great job girls!
The 8th grade Girls Basketball team defeated Wabash and Southwood to win the R.J. Baskett Invitational today. The 7th grade girls were defeated in the championship game.

The Lady Indians wrap up the season tonight with a varsity-only contest at Blackford (7pm), and then take the weekend to prepare for the first round of the IHSAA tournament at Norwell. They will face the hosts on Tuesday, January 31 at 6:00pm. The winner will advance to face Bellmont on Friday. Tuesday, January 24 . The Lady Indians played at home against CIC opponent Frankton and came up short 41-50. The JV picked up a win in their contest beating the Eagles 40-36. The girls last contest before sectional is at Blackford on Thursday, January 26 for a varisty-only contest (rescheduled) to start at 7:00pm.
To kick off the weekend, Katie Scott signed to continue her cheerleading and academic career at Ancilla College.
The Boys Basketball team traveled to Elwood on Friday for a CIC event that featured a special Unified Basketball game between the JV and Varsity contests. The JV Boys Basketball team won 58-45. Jerod May led the Indians in a Varsity victory over Elwood with 18pts. The Indians final score was 68-52 which now makes them 12-2 on the season.
Girls Basketball fell to Elwood on Saturday 35-46.
Finally, the Freshman Boys Basketball team claimed the 2017 Grant Four Championship on Saturday. In round one they defeated Eastbrook 38-37. Bryce Luedtke and Evan Bellus had 11pts. In the Championship game the Indians defeated Oak Hill 48-47. Kaden Cole led the Indians with 17pts. Evan Bellus added 16pts. Boys Basketball won all the Grant Four tournaments this year. The R.J. Baskett 8th grade girls basketball team defeated Eastbrook 39-14 in the championship of the 2017 tournament. Lady Indians Webb and Watson led the team with 8pts. each. Congratulations!
The Girls Basketball team lost to Alexandria on Wednesday evening 44-34. Erika Foy led the Lady Indians with 16pts. The JV defeated the Tigers 45-19. The girls host Elwood Saturday with a JV tip at 6:00pm.
