6th Grade Hoops, Senior Night on Friday

Tribe Sports Report

Mississinewa High School Senior Honor Night for winter athletics is this Friday, April 16 at approximately 7:00pm. The event will take place immediately after the Boys JV contest with Eastbrook. TribeTV will have live coverage of the entire evening on MCSC Athletic’s YouTube channel.

Kyler Funk will wrestle at approximately 7:00pm on Friday at the State Finals in Banker’s Fieldhouse. TribeTV is not permitted to cover the event, but a live stream is provided at IHSAAtv.org.

RJB Boys Basketball . The 6th grade A-Team lost to East Jay last night 32-28. Boston Burbank and Mason Cox scored 8 points each in the loss. The B-Team won 18-14 over East Jay. Deakon Dilts scored 5 points to lead the Junior Indians.

RJB Girls Basketball . The 6th grade girls A-Team lost to East Jay 26-25. Sophia Morrison had 12 points. The B-Team won 18-6.

Tonight’s Events . There are no events scheduled for tonight at RJB or MHS.


Today’s Sports World Update

Winter Olympics .  Korean-American Chloe Kim won gold in the half-pipe yesterday. That is the United States third gold medal, as Norway is still the top medal award winner.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . Notre Dame lost to North Carolina last night 83-66. Martinis Geben scored 18 points in the loss and with 7 rebounds. Butler faces Georgetown tonight at 6:30pm on the CBS Sports Network, and Ball State plays Akron on ESPN3 at 7:00pm.

NCAA Women’s Basketball . The Lady Hoosiers defeated Purdue last night 52-44.

NAIA Men’s Basketball . The Wildcats travel to Mount Vernon tonight. The Trojans host Huntington tonight at 7:00pm.

NAIA Women’s Basketball . The Lady Wildcats face Mount Vernon on Wednesday. Taylor has a home game on Wednesday with Huntington.

Just a reminder that Coach Arbogast and the MHS Track and Field team will be holding a call-out meeting today at 2:40pm in the Pit at MHS. See Coach Arbogast with any questions.

Tonight’s Events . MHS Boys Basketball will travel the five miles to Marion High School to battle the Giants tonight at 6:30pm in Bill Green Arena. TribeTV will provide live coverage on MCSC Athletic’s YouTube with Dalton Bishop on the call. RJB Wrestling is cancelled for tonight. RJB Girls Basketball will play Kokomo at Maple Crest tonight at 6:00pm. 6th grade Girls Basketball host Southwood in the final event for tonight at 6:00pm.

NBA . The Pacers fell to the Wizards last night 111-102. Bojan Bogdanovic scored 29 points in the loss.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . Indiana handled business last night against Rutgers 65-43. Juwan Morgan scored 24 points on 10 of 14 shooting. The Butler Bulldogs face #5 Xavier tonight at 6:30pm on Fox Sports One. Ball State is the favorite tonight against Bowling Green. Both teams are 14-9 for the 7:00pm contest which can be seen on ESPN3. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish face Boston College tonight at 8:00pm on ESPN3.

Funk advances, Indians win, and RJB claims titles

Just a reminder that Coach Arbogast and the MHS Track and Field team will be holding a call-out meeting on Tuesday, February 6 at 2:40pm in the Pit at MHS. See Coach Arbogast with any questions.

MHS Wrestling. Courtland Scott and Skylar Tackett wrestled well at the Peru Regional on Saturday, but will not advance with Kyler Funk. Kyler placed third and will represent Mississinewa this upcoming weekend in the Ft. Wayne Semi-State. The mat opens at 9:00am on Saturday at the Ft. Wayne Coliseum. Good luck Kyler and Coach Funk.

MHS Boys Basketball . The Junior Varsity team defeated Delta on Saturday 55-47 to move to 13-3 on the season. Collin Yoder led the way with 15 points. Coach Evertts and the Indians finished the afternoon by completing the sweep of the Eagles, winning 56-45. The Indians have now won six in a row. Thabit Gault led the Indians with 21 points. Freshman Landon Swanner scored 13 points. Mississinewa faces Marion at Bill Green Arena on Tuesday. Fans can catch the action on MCSC Athletic’s YouTube provided by TribeTV.

DVJnu_sVQAEGe4QRJB Boys Basketball . The Junior Indians brought home two titles on Saturday from the Maconaquah Tournament. The 7th grade team started the day with a championship followed by a great performance by Dakota Ancil (30 points, 12 rebounds) to lead the 8th grade squad to a second title on the day.

DVIP_O9VoAA1limRJB Girls Basketball . The 7th grade Girls Basketball team earned their first CIC title in school history by defeating Alexandria 19-12. Lia Luchetti had 9 points to lead the young Lady Indians. Congratulations to Coach Kimes and the team for setting this historical mark for R.J. Baskett Middle School.

r323844_608x342_16-9NFL . The Philadelphia Eagles won Super Bowl 52 over the New England Patriots 41-33. Nick Foles was crowned the MVP after going 28-43 for 373 yards with 3 touchdowns. Tom Brady had 505 yards in the Patriots loss as a couple late drives were halted by the Eagles defense.

NBA . The Indiana Pacers play tonight against the Wizards at 7:00pm. Both teams are having a similar season at 30 wins each.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . The Indiana Hoosiers face Rutgers tonight at 7:00pm. The 12-12 Hoosiers can be watched on the Big Ten Network.

NCAA Women’s Basketball . The Lady Hoosiers defeated Northwestern in overtime 78-73 over the weekend. Purdue defeated Illinois 73-54, Butler lost to Seton Hall 75-64, and #5 Notre Dame beat a tough Duke team ranked at #19, 72-54 to round out local women’s college basketball.

NAIA Basketball . Indiana Wesleyan defeated Huntington 100-73 on Saturday. The Lady Wildcats game with Huntington was a little bit closer but IWU won 67-64. Taylor University won 93-73 over Mount Vernon Nazarene. The Lady Trojans won big as well, defeating Mount Vernon 90-53. Taylor faces the Wildcats on Tuesday as the Lady Trojans will travel to Indiana Wesleyan on Wednesday for a 7:00pm tip in each competition.

Lady Indians fall to Giants in Sectional

MHS Girls Basketball . The Lady Indians lost last night to Marion in the opening round of the IHSAA Sectional at Bellmont 60-23. Holli Greer had 7 points to lead the Lady Indians followed by Freshman Taylor Ulerick with 6. Mississinewa finishes their season 11-12.

Tonight’s Events . RJB Boys and Girls Basketball will send it’s 6th graders to Tipton tonight. The boys will only play an A-game. Those contests are set to start at 5:30pm. Looking ahead to the weekend, MHS Wrestling will send Kyler Funk, Courtland Scott, and Skylar Tackett to the Peru Regionals at 9:00am Saturday morning. MHS Boys Basketball will host the Delta Eagles at 11:00am. Indians basketball can be watched on MCSC Athletics YouTube. RJB Boys Basketball will compete in the Maconaquah Tournament starting at 9:00am.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . #3 Purdue made it 18 in a row last night by defeating Maryland 75-67. Isaac Haas had 20 points on 8 of 14 shooting. The Butler Bulldogs took down Marquette 92-72 with a 23 point performance from Tyler Wideman.

NBA . The Indiana Pacers edged out the Memphis Grizzlies 105-101. Bojan Bogdanovic scored 21 points on 7 of 12 shooting to lead the Pacers.

NCAA Women’s Basketball . Ball Sate moved to 18-3 on the season with a 97-65 win over Akron last night. #5 Notre Dame will face North Carolina tonight on the ACC Network at 7:00pm. The Lady Boilermakers take on #13 Michigan tonight at 8:00pm.

NAIA Basketball . Indiana Wesleyan’s women lost to Marian last night 56-75. The Taylor Lady Trojans defeated Saint Francis 66-61. The men and women from both Indiana Wesleyan and Taylor are in action on Saturday.

RJB Boys Basketball . The 6th grade Boys Basketball game against Frankton tonight has been cancelled. No make-up date is set.

Tonight’s Events . MHS Girls Basketball travels to Bellmont to take on the Marion Giants at 6:00pm in IHSAA Sectional 23. Watch live on MCSC Athletics YouTube provided by TribeTV. 6th grade Boys Basketball hosts Frankton at 6:00pm tonight as well.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . Indiana lost to Ohio State last night 71-56. Devonte Green has 20 points in the Hoosier’s loss. Ball State defeated Toledo 75-63. Tahjai Teague had 21 points to lead the Cardinals. Tonight, #3 Purude faces Maryland at 8:30pm on the Big Ten Network. Butler plays Marquette on Fox Sports One at 9:00pm.

NBA . At 28-23, the Indiana Pacers take on the Memphis Grizzlies tonight at 7:00pm in Indianapolis. Lance Stephenson is still on the day-to-day injured list as of Tuesday. Indiana is sitting at third in the Central Conference behind Milwaukee and the struggling Cleveland Cavaliers.

NCAA Women’s Basketball . Ball State Lady Cardinals face Akron tonight at 7:00pm. Fans can watch on ESPN3.

NAIA . Indiana Wesleyan men’s basketball defeated Marian in double-overtime 87-82. Taylor fell to St. Francis 58-89. The Lady Wildcats travel to Marian tonight for a 7:00pm contest. The Lady Trojans are also on the road tonight to St. Francis.
