Weekend Recap: Girls Basketball Wins Big

Football . The Mississinewa Indians tremendous season came to an end Friday in Greenwood, Indiana as the Woodsman upended their semi-state hopes 34-27. With hundreds of Mississinewa fans in attendance and over 700 watching at home, the Indians fought hard for their fans and came out on a mission. Dustin Patton seamed to ignite the fans with an early defensive show, as the Indians claimed early control. In the end, touchdowns from Senior Cade McCoin as well as three from Heisman Skeens were not enough to overcome Greenwood. Junior Sam Tarpein added 3 extra points for the Indians.

Girls Basketball . The Lady Indians defeated Maconaquah 93-26 on Saturday. The Junior Varsity also won 49-31. Girls basketball will be on the road at Bluffton early this week before another two-game stretch this weekend at home. Both home games can be watched live on MCSC Athletics YouTube.

There are no events tonight (Monday, November 13).


Today’s Sports Update

NBA . The Pacers lost to Houston last night 118-95. Victor Oladipo led the Pacers with 28 points.

NFL . The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Colts 20-17 on Sunday. Chester Rogers had one reception on 104 yards with a touchdown for Indianapolis.

How to Watch: Mississinewa vs. Greenwood Regional Football

Mississinewa Indians Football will travel to Greenwood for the IHSAA Regional game against the Woodsman on Friday, November 10. Kickoff is at 7:00pm. TribeTV will travel to Greenwood and will provide a stream of the game on MCSC Athletics YouTube Channel. Please remember that TribeTV is a student-media production team, and will be streaming via hotspot as Greenwood facilities do not have network outlets. Our students will do there absolute best to provide a live view of this great event. Indians Face Greenwood in Regionals

MHS Football . The Mississinewa Indians defeated the Western Panthers 41-39 to claim a Sectional Championship. This was the team’s first title since 1988. Senior quarterback Cade McCoin rushed for three touchdowns and completed two passing touchdowns to Heisman Skeens. Skeens also rushed in a touchdown. Freshman Andre Salade continued his good form by kicking five PAT’s. On defense, the big play of the game was an interception by Cade Campbell to seal the title. Campbell also rushed for over 275 yards in the game. The Indians face the Greenwood Woodsmen in the Regional on Friday, November 10 at 7:00pm in Greenwood.

MHS Girls Basketball . The Lady Indians opened the season with a 75-54 win at Kokomo Taylor on Saturday. They continue the season when they host Wabash on Wednesday at 6:00pm.

Regional Football Ticket Information . Pre-Sale tickets are available starting Tuesday through Thursday from 7:30am to 3:30pm at Mississinewa High School in the Main Office. Pre-Sale ends on Friday at noon. Tickets are $8.00. Contact the Mississinewa High School Athletic Department at 765-674-2248 for questions.

Sectional Championship Shirts . “Party like it’s ’88!” shirts are on sale Monday and Tuesday for $10. The general public can order shirts from the Athletics Department. Students may order shirts during all lunch periods.

Fall Banquet . The Mississinewa High School Fall Sports Banquet scheduled for Wednesday has been postponed. A new date and time will be released soon.

Today’s Sports Update

NFL . The Indianapolis Colts defeated the Houston Texans 20-14 on Sunday. Jacoby Brissett was 20-30 with 308 yards and two touchdowns. Ty Hilton had five receptions on 175 yards with two touchdowns.

NBA . Indiana lost to New York last night 108-101. Thaddeus Young had 18 points for the Pacers.

Football . Friday, the Indians take on the Western Panthers at Fisher Field for the IHSAA Sectional 21 Championship. Gates will open at 6:00pm for the 7:00pm kickoff. Tickets are $6.00 each and can be purchased at the Mississinewa High School Main Office until 3:00pm today, and until noon on Friday. Tickets will be on sale at the gate. Fans that can not make it to the game can watch a live stream online brought to you by TribeTV.

Girls Basketball . The Lady Indians opened up the 2017-18 campaign with a pre-season scrimmage last night against the Tipton Blue Devils. Coach Tandy commented on Twitter of the glimpses of the Lady Indians identity and was inspired by the game film. You can watch the replay on MCSCAthletics.com or on the MCSC Athletics YouTube channel. The Lady Indians open up the season on Saturday at Kokomo Taylor at 1:00pm.

Today’s Sports Update

MLB . The Houston Astros are the 2017 World Series Champions after defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-1 last night in Game 7. This title is the first for the Astros in franchise history. Charlie Morton earned the win on the mound for the Astros. George Springer drove the nail into the Dodgers coffin with a home run to center. Springer was 2-5 with two runs and two RBIs.

NBA . The Indiana Pacers defeated the Cavaliers last night 124-107. Thaddeus Young scored 26 points on 12-18 shooting. That is the fourth straight loss for Cleveland. Indiana plays at Philadelphia on Friday at 7:00pm.

Football Sectional Championship Tickets . Pre-Sale Tickets are available today, Wednesday, and Thursday from 7:30am to 3:00pm in the Mississinewa High School Main Office. On Friday, Pre-Sale will end at noon. Tickets will be available at the gate. All tickets are $6.00. Gates will open at 6:00pm on Friday, November 3 for the 7:00pm kickoff of the IHSAA Sectional 21 Football Championship against Western. Questions may directed to the Mississinewa Athletics Department at 765-674-2248.

MHS Student Section @MHSiTribe . The theme for Friday’s Sectional Championship is “Red, White, and Blue” in honor Veterans Day. All Mississinewa fans are welcome to participate.

There are no events for Indian Athletics tonight. TribeTV will carry the Girls Basketball Scrimmage against Tipton on Wednesday at 6:00pm live on MCSC Athletic’s YouTube and TheCube.


Today’s Sports Update

MLB . The Houston Astros could claim the World Series against the Dodgers tonight as they are up 3-2. That game can be seen on Fox at 8:20pm.

NBA . The Sacramento Kings come to town as Indiana continues to fire up their season. Game time is 7:00pm.

Cross Country . Brennan Butche ran for the second straight year at the IHSAA Cross Country State Finals in Terre Haute this past Saturday. Butche placed 5th (15:30) while representing Mississinewa, his team, and family with total class. Congratulations Brennan on another fantastic year.

Football . The Mississinewa Indians defeated the Marion Giants for the first time in history at Fisher Field on Friday 21-14. The last meeting between these two teams was in 1974. Senior Cade McCoin had two passing touchdowns (Heisman Skeens and Cade Campbell), and he ran one in himself. Freshman kicker Andre Sallade kicked three PAT’s. The Indian’s defense made huge plays including fumble recoveries by Drew Castanon, Hunter Smalley, and Tobias Mead.

Girls Basketball . First year coach Omega Tandy and the Lady Indians open up play on their new court Wednesday with a scrimmage against Tipton (6:00pm, Live on MCSC Athletics YouTube). Their first official game is at Kokomo Taylor on Saturday.

RJB Basketball . Boys Basketball practice this week opens with 8th graders, daily, from 5:00-7:00pm. The 7th grade team will practice from 7:00-9:00pm.

Football Tickets . Pre-Sale tickets will again be available starting Tuesday, October 31 for this Friday’s Sectional Championship against Western. Tickets can be purchased at Mississinewa High School’s Main Office daily from 7:30am to 3:00pm. Deadline for Pre-Sale purchase is Friday, October 3 at Noon. Tickets may be purchased at the gate on Friday. Gates will open at 6:00pm.

Today’s Sports Update

MLB . The Houston Astros defeated the Dodgers last night 13-12 in extra innings to take a 3-2 lead in the World Series. Game Six will be played in Los Angeles on Tuesday at 8:20pm (Fox) featuring Justin Verlander and Rich Hill.

NFL . Cincinnati defeated the Colts 24-23. Jacoby Brissett was 25-39 with one big Bengals interception late in the game.

NBA . The Indiana Pacers hosted the San Antonio Spurs and were victorious 97-94 led by Victor Oladipo’s 23 points on 7/14 shooting.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . The latest AP Coaches Poll Top Five includes Duke, Michigan State, Kansas, Kentucky, and Arizona. Pre-Season top team Duke opens Friday, November 10 with a non-conference game against Elon. Local teams opening games are listed below:

PreSale Football Tickets Ends at Noon

PreSale tickets at Mississinewa High School Main Office ends today at Noon. Tickets will be available at the game with gates opening at 6:00pm. Tonight’s IHSAA Football Sectional 21 Round Two game between Mississinewa and Marion will be streamed live on MCSC Athletic’s YouTube.

Brennan Butche will race on Saturday in Terre Haute. Mississinewa High School will hold a “Send-Off Rally” at 11:00am this morning as Brennan leaves for Terre Haute to train on the course this morning. The Boys State Finals Cross Country race will be streamed liveat 1:00pm (coverage starts at noon) by the IHSAA.

MCSC Athletics would like to help spread the word on a great student show be presented this weekend by Sight, Sound, and Scroll. “Gossamer” by Lois Lowry will be the Fall Production for Mississinewa held at the Marion Civic Theatre tonight and Saturday at 7:30pm. Student admission is $5.00 while Adult admission is $10.00. Please get out and support our great Fine Arts students and staff.

Fall Break Recap, Ticket Info for Friday

Mississinewa Football defeated Frankfort on the Hot Dogs home field Friday 65-20. Senior Cade McCoin rushed for a touchdown and threw two to Junior Heisman Skeens, who had three rushing touchdowns as well. Drew Castenon added a touchdown. Freshman Andre Salade kicked 7 PAT’s while Josh O’Connell added two himself. The Indian’s defense, led by Senior Dustin Patton caused a safety.

Tickets . Friday’s Sectional 21 football game at Fisher Field will be between Mississinewa and Marion with kickoff at 7:00pm. Tickets will go on sale Tuesday, October 24 at the Main Office of Mississinewa High School. Fans may purchase tickets between 7:30am and 3:30pm each day this week. Pre-Sale ends Friday at Noon. Questions can be directed to Mississinewa High School at 765-674-2248.

On Saturday, Brennan Butche advanced for Mississinewa Cross Country to the State Finals which will be held at the Wabash Valley Sports Center in Terre Haute next Saturday, October 28. The Boys Race is at 1:00pm. Admission to the events in Terre Haute is $10. Alternatively, you can watch live on IHSAAtv.org. MCSC Atheltics would also liek to recognize Aurora Fisher and her fantastic season that ended Saturday at the Semi-State race.

Fall Break, Football, and Runners

Mississinewa Schools is on Fall Break on Thursday and Friday of this week and Monday of next week (October 19-23). Be sure to follow MCSC Athletics on Twitter or Facebook for information over break.

Aurora Fisher and Brennan Butche will need to finish in the top ten at the New Haven Semi-State on Saturday to advance. Races will begin at approximately 1:00pm with the boys competition followed by the girls at approximately 1:45pm. The event will be held at The Plex in Ft. Wayne. Admission to this event is $5.

Mississinewa Football will travel to Frankfort High School on Friday, October 20 for the opening round of the sectional tournament. Game time is 7:00pm, and admission is $6. Mississinewa will host the winner of the Delta-Marion contest the following week if they defeat the Hot Dogs.


Pro & College Sports Update

ALCS . The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros 6-4 in the Bronx to even the series at two games each last night. Aaron Judge launched a home run that started a late surge from the Yankees and added a double late in the game as part of a huge eighth inning. The ALCS series ends it’s stay in the Bronx today with game five at 4:00pm (FS1).

NLCS . Darvish controlled the game through 7 for the Dodgers, only allowing one Schwarber home run in the first inning, as Los Angeles is now one game away from clinching a spot in the World Series. Wrigley Field will host game four tonight at 9:00pm (TBS) in what could be the final game of the NLCS.

NBA . The big story in the NBA so far in the opening week was the terrifying leg fracture sustained by Gordon Hayward last night as the Celtics lost to Cleveland 102-99. Hayward is a Butler alum who was making his debut for Boston.

There were no events last night in Mississinewa athletics. TribeTV, an IHSAA approved broadcaster for tournament football, is working with Frankfort High School to bring you a live stream of this Friday’s sectional football game. Stay tuned for more information as we approach game day.

Lady Indians Basketball held it’s first day of practice and try-outs yesterday with first-year coach Omega Tandy. The girls have been training and holding pre-season workouts leading up to opening day for quite some time now. Good luck to Coach Tandy and the Lady Indians in the upcoming season.

Professional Sports Update

The New York Yankees won last night 8-1 highlighted by an Aaron Judge 3-run blast. The ALCS continues tonight on FS1 at 5:00pm followed by the NLCS at Wrigley Field with the Dodgers up 2-0. First pitch in Chicago is at 9:00pm on TBS.

Colts fans were disappointed last night in another loss to the Titans this time 36-22. The Colts are now 2-4 on the season. Brissett was 21 of 37 with 212 yards and one touchdown.
