Boys Tennis Cruises, Still Ranked

Indian News . Today students are dressed for the “Holidays” to show their school spirit for Homecoming Week 2019. Tomorrow is “Decades” spirit. Dress in clothes that represent your favorite decade.

All this week, TribeTV and the MHS Pep Club urge everyone to use the hashtag “MHSChampsHoco19” when sharing your photos, videos, and memories to build a united collection from our tribe of excellence.

Tomorrow’s Powder Puff game has been pushed back to an 8:00pm start. This was originally scheduled for 7:00pm. The bonfire will immediately follow at approximately 9:30pm.

MHS Girls Soccer . At Fisher Field, Mississinewa lost 5-2 to the Tipton Blue Devils last night. Goals came from Lia Luchetti and Taylor Ulerick with an assist by Alayna Webb. Savannah Herrera had 11 saves in the net as the team is now 4-3-1 with the Wapahani Raiders up next.

MHS Girls Golf . The Lady Indians lost in a match with Oak Hill and Huntington North last night 188-205-234. Anna Pannell shot the top round of 49 for Mississinewa. Rounding out the scores were LaBarr 52, Allen 66, Cornejo 67, and White 68.

MHS Boys Tennis . The 30th ranked Indians topped Alexandria last night 5-0 to move to 3-0 in the CIC. The team is 13-3 on the season with a trip to Elwood on Wednesday. Connor Murphy won 6-0, 6-1 at 1-Singles, John Oliver was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at 2-Singles, and Hayden Rowley was also perfect at 3-Singles. Ryan Scott and Riley Fuqua captured the 1-Doubles court 6-1, 6-1. Mason Christensen and Chandler Morrison won 6-1, 6-2 to round out the varsity’s victory. The JV also won 2-1 over the Tigers.

MHS Football (JV) . Mississinewa’s JV squad defeated Eastbrook 38-12 last night. Landry Rock had a rushing touchdown, a two-point conversion, and a passing touchdown to Jayden Crick. Hayden Nelson rushed for a touchdown and returned a kickoff for a touchdown. Luke Bennett rushed for a touchdown, a two point conversion, and had a fumble recovery. Carter Burton rushed for a two-point conversion. Peyton McPeak rushed for a two-point conversion, and Aiden Douglas had a fumble recovery.

Homecoming 2019 Launches Today

Indian News . Homecoming 2019 launches today. This year’s theme is “We are the Champions”. The week’s agenda and events can be found on the MCSCAthletics home page. Today’s dress-up theme is “A Time to Serve”. Tomorrow students will be celebrating their favorite “Holidays” attire.

MHS eSports practice for today is cancelled. Any questions can be directed to Coach Armes.

The Unified Football team competed alongside the Marion Giants on Saturday for a flag football contest. Congratulations to all athletes on a great performance and thanks to our community for the support.

MHS Football . The Indians lost the milk jug on Friday night in Upland to the Eastbrook Panthers as they fell 21-14 in what could be the deciding factor in the CIC championship. Senior Andrew Cruz rushed for two touchdowns and Junior Andre Sallade kicked in two PATs. Mississinewa faces the Argylls of Madison Grant this Friday to get back on track.

MHS Cross Country . Mississinewa competed in the Wildcat Invitational on Saturday at Indiana Wesleyan. Carli Fones finished 4th overall followed by Raegan Tippey at 13th. Fones and Tippey were the only medalists for the girls who placed 10th out of 13 teams. The boys were 8th out of 16.

MHS Girls Golf . Mississinewa placed 4th at the Grant 4 Tournament on Saturday afternoon. Madison Grant won the day followed by Oak Hill and Eastbrook. Maggie LaBarr posted the top score for the Lady Indians at 95. Following were Pannell (101), Allen (112), Cornejo (122), and Berry (130).

MHS Volleyball . No official results were reported for the Lady Indians at the Rossville Invitational this past weekend, but unofficially Mississinewa defeated Rossville and loss to Maconaquah.

MHS Boys Tennis . The Indians served up a 5-0 win over Northeastern on Saturday. Murphy, Oliver, and Rowley all won on the Singles courts. Both duos of Scott/Fuqua and Christensen/Morrison eased past their Doubles opponents. The team is now 12-3 with Alexandria tonight in a CIC battle at Mississinewa.

Football moves up the ladder, now at #4

Boys Soccer.  Coach Reel and the Indians took down Eastern 2-1 last night. Goals by Colin Yoder and Hayden Ulerick. Assists by Holden Brown and Noah Drake. Cody Nantz had 18 goal saves.

Cross Country. Boys finished 8th place out of 11 teams, Sam Bolden placed 23rd. Girls had an incomplete team do to several of their top runners not running due to injuries.

Golf. Coach Simpson and his squad lost to Alexandria 215 to 190 last night at Yule. LaBarr 46, Pannell 51, White 54 and Smalley rounded out with a 64.

Football. After Fridays win the Tribe moves to #4 in the Associated Press poll. The Indians earned 180 points and only one first place vote. The team shares the 4th place spot with Evansville Central, who was the 4A state runner up a season ago.

RJB Football. 7th grade beat Elwood 14-12 and the 8th grade team lost to Oak Hill 36-0.
