Indians Battle Giants Tonight

Tribe Sports Report

Pre-Sale Tickets . Tickets for tonight’s boys basketball game with Marion can be purchased at Mississinewa High School today until 3:00pm. Please enter Door #1 and tickets are available in the Main Office.

MHS Football . ICYMI The Manchester Team Camp is being organized and any player interested in attending must contact Coach Funk or Coach Greentree by Friday, February 4th to lock-in their spot.

RJB Athletics . No results were reported for events last night at R.J. Baskett.

Tonight’s Events . The Indians take on the Giants of Marion tonight in what will surely be a Grant County Boys Basketball classic. The junior varsity tips at 6:00pm. RJB Wrestling will travel to Wabash and hit the mat at 6:00pm, and the RJB Girls Basketball team hosts Kokomo at 6:00pm.

Today’s Sports World Update

NBA . Indiana defeated the Pelicans last night 109-107 on the road. Darren Collison had 22 points, 4 boards, and 6 assists in the Pacer win.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . #16 Louisville topped #11 Virginia Tech 72-64 in a Big Monday showcase. Several top-ten teams take action tonight including #1 Tennessee, #2 Duke, #5 Kentucky, #7 Michigan, #8 North Carolina, #9 Michigan State, and #10 Marquette.

NCAA Women’s Basketball . Top-ranked Baylor took down #14 Texas 74-68 last night in Big 12 Women’s action. There are no Top 25 games tonight.

NAIA Athletics . Indiana Wesleyan Baseball split with Saint Xavier yesterday to open their season with a rematch today. The Taylor Trojans launch their Baseball season today in Westfield against Cornerstone University. The Wildcats and Trojans square off in Upland in a men’s basketball battle this evening at 7:30pm.

Wrestlers Advance to Semi-State, Hoops Recap

Call-Out Meetings . Today there will be a few call-out meetings at MHS for athletes interested in spring sports. Track and Field will meet at 2:40pm in The Pit. Questions regarding track can be directed to Coach Arbogast. At 5:30pm, Coach Miller and any girls interested in Softball will meet in the MHS Cafeteria.

MHS Football . The Manchester Team Camp is being organized and any player interested in attending must contact Coach Funk or Coach Greentree by Friday, February 4th to lock-in their spot.

MHS Wrestling . At the Peru Regional on Saturday, the Indians placed all three of their wrestlers to advance to the Ft. Wayne Semi-State. Kyler Funk finished 2nd at 182, Courtland Smith placed 3rd at 145, and Andruw Cruz finished 4th at 220. More information on this Semi-State will be provided later this week.

MHS Girls Basketball . The Lady Indians season came to an end on Friday at the IHSAA Sectional at Norwell High School against a very tough Columbia City team. Mississinewa lost 52-32 to the Eagles and finished the season at 13-10. Tyler Bartel scored 15 points in the loss.

MHS Boys Basketball . Coach Reed and the Indians traveled to Royerton on Saturday to take on the 18-0 Delta Eagles who sit towards the top of the 3A poll. The Indians lost 51-34 after keeping pace with the Eagles early. The JV team lost 47-43 in a very close game the entire way, and were led by Bryce Leudtke with 15 points.

RJB Athletics . The 7th grade Girls Basketball team captured the CIC Championship on Saturday. The 8th grade Boys Basketball team also won the Maconaquah Tournament.

Tonight’s Events . The RJB 6th grade Boys Basketball team will take on Oak Hill at home starting at 6:00pm.

Today’s Sports World Update

NFL . The New England Patriots are the Super Bowl Champions after defeating the Los Angelos Rams last night 13-3 in Atlanta. Tom Brady was 21-35 with 262 yards. Sony Michael had 18 carries for 94 yards including the only touchdown of the game. Julian Edelman had 10 receptions for 141 yards. This was the Patriots sixth title.

NBA . The Indiana Pacers take on the Pelicans tonight on the road at 8:00pm in the Smoothie King Center. Indiana is 33-19 overall, and 15-12 traveling.

PGA Golf . Rickie Fowler won the Phoenix Open this weekend at TPC Scottsdale with a 74 final round to shoot 17-under total.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . The big story from this past weekend is #17 Purdue topping Minnesota, and now the Boilermakers sit atop the Big Ten with a 9-2 conference record. Tonight’s “Big Monday” game features #12 Virginia Tech against #15 Louisville at 7:00pm on ESPN.

NCAA Women’s Basketball . The Lady Boilers lost to #22 Michigan State 74-66 on Sunday. #5 Notre Dame dismantled Georgia Tech 90-50 to move to 8-1 in the ACC.

NAIA Athletics . Indiana Wesleyan Baseball plays a double-header today against Saint Xavier of Illinois beginning at 1:00pm. The Taylor Trojans Baseball team plays at double-header at Westfield, Indiana against Cornerstone University starting at 1:00pm today.

Butche Wins 4th Grant Four Title

MHS Cross Country . Brennan Butche won the Grant Four race with a new course record of 15:38 to retain his titlefor the fourth straight year at Taylor University last night. Aurora Fisher, Carli Fones, and Raegan Tippey finished in the top ten for the girls who came in 2nd place as a team.

MHS Girls Soccer . No official result was reported from Lady Indians soccer last night.

MHS Boys Soccer . The Indians defeated South Adams yesterday 8-1 at Fisher Field. Colin Yoder scored 4 goals in the win. Thomas Steelman added 2 goals while Noah Drake and Holden Brown rounded out the scoring.

RJB Volleyball . The 7th and 8th grade volleyball teams both defeated Kokomo last night 2-0.

RJB Football . The 7th grade Indians defeated Madison Grant 22-0, while the 8th grade team took a 46-12 win over the Argylls.

RJB Tennis . The junior Indians shutout McCulloch last night 5-0 in their match at Marion High School.

Tonight’s Events . Boys Tennis will travel to Frankton at 4:30pm in their last conference match of the season. Volleyball hosts Elwood this evening at 6:00pm.

Today’s Sports World Update

MLB . The Cleveland Indians defeated the White Sox last night 5-3. Detroit dropped a result to the Twins 5-3. St. Louis won big in Atlanta taking down the Braves 8-1. Cincinnati won 3-1 over the Brewers, and the Chicago Cubs picked up a win in Arizona 9-1.

PGA Golf . The Tour Championship begins on Thursday at East Lake Golf Course in Atlanta. Xander Schauffele is the defending champ. The earliest tee time in the field is set right now for 11:40am with Marc Leishman and Patton Kizzire.

NFL . New York will face Cleveland this week in the Thursday night game of week three. Indianapolis will be in Philadelphia on Sunday for a 1:00pm kick-off on FOX.


The Tribe Sports Report will be back on Monday, September 24th to recap all of the homecoming festivities and events. The Tribe Sports Daily Show will stream live tomorrow from Fisher Field, and then take Friday off to cover the 2018 Homecoming Pep Rally and Class Games at Mississinewa High School.
