Football moves up the ladder, now at #4

Boys Soccer.  Coach Reel and the Indians took down Eastern 2-1 last night. Goals by Colin Yoder and Hayden Ulerick. Assists by Holden Brown and Noah Drake. Cody Nantz had 18 goal saves.

Cross Country. Boys finished 8th place out of 11 teams, Sam Bolden placed 23rd. Girls had an incomplete team do to several of their top runners not running due to injuries.

Golf. Coach Simpson and his squad lost to Alexandria 215 to 190 last night at Yule. LaBarr 46, Pannell 51, White 54 and Smalley rounded out with a 64.

Football. After Fridays win the Tribe moves to #4 in the Associated Press poll. The Indians earned 180 points and only one first place vote. The team shares the 4th place spot with Evansville Central, who was the 4A state runner up a season ago.

RJB Football. 7th grade beat Elwood 14-12 and the 8th grade team lost to Oak Hill 36-0.

Tennis brings home hardware, football wins week 2

Indian News. The Mississinewa football vs Elwood game this Friday will be broadcasted LIVE on MCSC Athletics Youtube. The Meijer Pregame show kicks-off at 6:30 with Ryan Scott (play-by-play) and Riley Fuqua (Color Analyst) on the call.

TSN News. Starting this Thursday the Tribe Sports Network will be launching the ‘”coaches corner”. The coaches corner will be on the website every Thursday so Indian head coaches can tell Ole Miss fans how their team is doing in the 2019 season. Stay Tuned.

Girls Soccer. Coach Wilson and her Tribe defeated Wabash on Saturday 7-1 to move them 2-2 on the season. Webb had 5 goals for the lady Indians and Luchetti put up 2 for the Tribe. Herrera put up eight goal saves.

Cross Country. Boys and Girls Cross Country competed in the Taylor University Invite on Saturday. Carli Fones was first on her Team for the Indians with a 36th place finish and a time of 21:59.  Raegan Tippey was second for the the team with a 42nd place finish 22:14. The boys were led by Zak Huffman with a 64th place finish and a time of 18:51. Jon Alsup finished second for the Indians with a 70th place with a 18:58.

Girls Golf. Coach Simpson and his ladies finished 5th in the Central Indiana Conference tournament in Elwood Saturday. LaBarr 101, Allen 104, Pannell 106, Cornejo 128 and Berry rounded out with a 128 for the lady Indians. Maggie LaBarr and Allen earned all CIC Honorable Mention.

Boys Tennis.  Head Coach Bruce Fleming and his squad beat the rain and competed in the 2019 Mooresville High School Invitational on Saturday. The Indians beat Taylor High School 5-0 in round 1 and then beat the host school in the championship 5-0 to bring home the Hardware and to move them to 7-0 on the season. The Indians host rival the Marion Giants today starting at 5pm. COME OUT AND CHEER THE INDIANS ON AS THEY TAKE ON THE GIANTS.

MHS Football. Coach Funk and his Tribe defeated New Haven at home 31-13 in week 2. Kyler Funk rushed for a TD, Cade Campbell rushed for two touchdowns and Carson Campbell rushed for one touchdown. Carson Campbell had an Interception. Elijah Standridge and Drew Castenon had a fumble recovery Andre Sallade kicked four PATs and one field goal. The JV team won at New Haven 14-8.

INDIANS WIN WEEK 1, BOYS SOCCER DOMINATED, FULL RECAP FROM THE WEEKEND

Girls Soccer. Coach Wilson and her lady Indians fell to Delta on Saturday 8-1. They are back in action Tuesday as they host Huntington North.

Boys Soccer. Coach Reel and the Indians dominated the playing field on Saturday, beating Tri Central 12-0. Colin Yoder had 6 goals and 1 assist, Holden Brown 4 goals 1 assist, Evan Yoder 1 goal, Andrew Purvis 1 goal, Noah Drake has 3 assists, Karver Jones 1 assist and Josh O’Connell 1 assist.

Cross Country. Coach Vanwinke and the Boys and Girls Cross County teams had a very good Saturday morning at Taylor University. Aurora Fisher finished 5th and Raegan Tippey finished 8th for the ladies. Camden Dorothy finished 19th for the boys team.

MHS Tennis. The Indian tennis team moves to 3-0 on the season after knocking down the Jets of Adams Central 5-0. Conner Murphy 6-2 6-4 (1S), John Oliver 6-1 6-1 (2S), Ethan Sample 6-3 6-3 (3S), Riley Fuqua/Ryan Scott 6-0 6-3 (1D) and Mason Christianson/ Chandler Morrison 6-1 6-4(2D) all had wins for the Tribe. Coach Fleming and his team are back in action this Tuesday as they will travel to Western to take on the Panthers at 5pm.

MHS Volleyball. The lady Indian volleyball team competed in the 2019 Elwood Panther Invite this past Saturday. The Tribe placed 4th out of 8 teams.

Indian Football. 10th year head coach Curt Funk and his Tribe answered the call this last Friday as they took down Pendleton Heights 26-21 in week 1 of the IHSAA season. Junior Andre Sallade kicked in 2 PATs. Senior Cade Campbell, Senior Kyler Funk, and Sophomore Carson Campbell each rushed for a touchdown. On defense, Carson Campbell scored another touchdown off of an interception.
