Tribe Sports Report

MCSC Athletics would like to thank him and all of the great media outlets that support our Indian athletics and school community.

MHS Football . The Indians fell in week one of the IHSAA football season to the Pendelton Heights Arabians 31-30 on Friday night. Junior Andrew Cruz rushed for a touchdown. Heisman Skeens ran in a touchdown and completed a pass to Cade Campbell for another score. Campbell added a rushing touchdown of his own. Sophomore Andre Sallade kicked for 3 PAT’s and a field goal. Defensively, Chris Pavey recovered a fumble that led to an Indian touchdown. Mississinewa will travel to New Haven for a big battle this Friday night at 7:00pm.

MHS Cross Country . At the Sports Plex in Muncie, the Indians cross country team competed in the “County Clash” on Saturday. The girls placed 3rd, and the boys placed 2nd. Aurora Fisher was a varsity medalist in 3rd place, Kara Dawson was 4th as a JV medalist, and Brennan Butche place 1st for varsity.

MHS Boys Soccer . First-year coach Jared Reel and the Indians traveled to Tri-Central on Saturday. The team won 17-1 with Colin Yoder netting 7 goals. Holden Brown scored 5 in another impressive individual performance. Noah Black, Noah Drake, Josh Terrell, Jeffrey Walton, and Cameron Sizemore each added a goal. Austin Long had a save in goal.

MHS Boys Tennis . Mississinewa played two match events on Saturday. The second event was a make-up contest with Kokomo. In the early match, the Indians lost 4-1 to Adams Central. Connor Murphy recorded the only win for the team with a 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 at 1-singles. The JV defeated the Jets 2-1. The Indians defeated the Kokomo Wildcats 3-2 in the afternoon match. Connor Murphy added another win on the day alongside John Oliver at 3-singles. Paxton Sample and Riley Fuqua took a victory at 2-doubles 6-0, 2-6, 6-2 to claim the team victory. The JV lost 2-1 to Kokomo.

Tonight’s Events . Volleyball travels to Bluffton tonight for a 6:00pm first serve with the Tigers. Freshman football is at home against Pendelton Heights, while the JV team travels to face the Arabians. Both football contests begin at 6:00pm.

Today’s Sports World Update

PGA Golf . Brandt Snedeker won the Wyndham Championship on Sunday shooting 21-under at Sedgefield in North Carolina.

Premiere League Soccer . Chelsea took the London derby on Saturday taking down Arsenal 3-2. The big result was Manchester United’s loss at B.H.A. on Sunday. The Red Devils brought the final score to 3-2 with a 95th minute penalty kick, but still left with one of the biggest upsets in recent action.

NASCAR . Kurt Busch finished first at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday after Kyle Larson took the pole in the Monster Energy Cup.

Boys Tennis Opens with Win

MHS Boys Tennis . The Indians opened the season with a win at Bluffton on Monday 4-1 over the Tigers. Conner Murphy, Chandler Morrison, and John Oliver won the singles matches for the Indians. Riley Fuqua and Hayden Rowley won at 2-doubles as well. The JV squad also won 2-1 with Ethan Sample winning his singles match. Ethan joined Josiah Stark to claim a doubles win to round out the evening. The Indians play at home on Thursday against the Kokomo Wildcats.

Tonight’s Events . Boys soccer will host Peru tonight at 6:00pm at Fisher Field. This game can be watched live on MCSC Athletic’s YouTube channel beginning at 5:45pm.

Today’s Sports World Update

PGA Golf . After this past weekend’s PGA Championship, the focus turns to Greensboro, North Carolina and the Wyndham Championship. This event will begin on Thursday.

Premiere League Soccer . The EPL recently fired up the 2018-2019 campaign. Liverpool, Chelsea, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Manchester City, Watford, Tottenham, and Manchester United all won their week-one fixtures. Week two fires up Saturday with Cardiff City taking on Newcastle at 7:30am.

NASCAR . On Saturday, the Monster Energy Cup will be at Bristol Motor Speedway. Kevin Harvick is the points leader followed by Kyle Busch.

Girls Soccer will Play for Title

Tribe Sports Report

Boys Tennis duo of Seth Graves and Chandler Morrison lost last night 6-2, 6-2 to a very solid Alexandria pair in the IHSAA Individual Doubles Sectional title match at Marion High School. Morrison will be a Junior next year for the Indians as Graves will graduate as part of back-to-back CIC champion teams.

Lady Indians Soccer opened up an IHSAA Sectional run last night at Marion High School with a win over Maconaquah 5-0. That win places the girls in the title match on Saturday at 7:00pm against Western.

Lady Indians Volleyball defeat Frankton in straight sets at both JV & Varsity levels. Varisty sets went 25-22, 25-23, and 25-14.

  • Halle Planck 12 kills, 4 blocks, 1 ace
  • Kenzie Skeens 39 assists, 2 digs

RJB Volleyball 7th and 8th grade teams defeat Oak Hill at home. RJB Tennis Girls won 4-1 over Lapel, and the RJB Boys Tennis team won 3-2 to finish the season undefeated. Tennis winners included John Oliver, Hayden Rowley, Riley Fuqua & Evan Stanley, Madison Fuqua, Ella Frantz, Sophia Morrison, and Brayley Bushman & Taylor Kern.
