Tribe Sports Report

MCSC Athletics would like to thank him and all of the great media outlets that support our Indian athletics and school community.

MHS Football . The Indians fell in week one of the IHSAA football season to the Pendelton Heights Arabians 31-30 on Friday night. Junior Andrew Cruz rushed for a touchdown. Heisman Skeens ran in a touchdown and completed a pass to Cade Campbell for another score. Campbell added a rushing touchdown of his own. Sophomore Andre Sallade kicked for 3 PAT’s and a field goal. Defensively, Chris Pavey recovered a fumble that led to an Indian touchdown. Mississinewa will travel to New Haven for a big battle this Friday night at 7:00pm.

MHS Cross Country . At the Sports Plex in Muncie, the Indians cross country team competed in the “County Clash” on Saturday. The girls placed 3rd, and the boys placed 2nd. Aurora Fisher was a varsity medalist in 3rd place, Kara Dawson was 4th as a JV medalist, and Brennan Butche place 1st for varsity.

MHS Boys Soccer . First-year coach Jared Reel and the Indians traveled to Tri-Central on Saturday. The team won 17-1 with Colin Yoder netting 7 goals. Holden Brown scored 5 in another impressive individual performance. Noah Black, Noah Drake, Josh Terrell, Jeffrey Walton, and Cameron Sizemore each added a goal. Austin Long had a save in goal.

MHS Boys Tennis . Mississinewa played two match events on Saturday. The second event was a make-up contest with Kokomo. In the early match, the Indians lost 4-1 to Adams Central. Connor Murphy recorded the only win for the team with a 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 at 1-singles. The JV defeated the Jets 2-1. The Indians defeated the Kokomo Wildcats 3-2 in the afternoon match. Connor Murphy added another win on the day alongside John Oliver at 3-singles. Paxton Sample and Riley Fuqua took a victory at 2-doubles 6-0, 2-6, 6-2 to claim the team victory. The JV lost 2-1 to Kokomo.

Tonight’s Events . Volleyball travels to Bluffton tonight for a 6:00pm first serve with the Tigers. Freshman football is at home against Pendelton Heights, while the JV team travels to face the Arabians. Both football contests begin at 6:00pm.

PGA Golf . Brandt Snedeker won the Wyndham Championship on Sunday shooting 21-under at Sedgefield in North Carolina.

Premiere League Soccer . Chelsea took the London derby on Saturday taking down Arsenal 3-2. The big result was Manchester United’s loss at B.H.A. on Sunday. The Red Devils brought the final score to 3-2 with a 95th minute penalty kick, but still left with one of the biggest upsets in recent action.

NASCAR . Kurt Busch finished first at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday after Kyle Larson took the pole in the Monster Energy Cup.

Boys Soccer over Apaches & Volleyball falls to Western, Friday Night Lights Return

MHS Boys Tennis was cancelled last night with Kokomo. A rescheduled date will be announced soon.

Check out today’s edition of the Marion Chronicle-Tribune for an opening day outlook on the Mississinewa High School Football season written by Scott Hunt.

Boys Soccer . Holden Brown netted 2 goals last night with Noah Black adding the winning strike to boost the Indians to a 3-2 win over the Wabash Apaches. The Indians are now 2-0 on the season.

MHS Volleyball . The Lady Indians lost last night to the Western Panthers 3-1. The set scores were 18-25, 25-21, 15-25, and 24-26.

Tonight’s Events . Football opens their season tonight against the Pendelton Heights Arabians at Fisher Field. Kick-off is at 7:30pm which is a later start than usual. Rain is in the forecast. TribeTV will have live coverage beginning at 6:45pm on MCSC Athletic’s YouTube channel.

Saturday’s Events . Cross Country runs at Yorktown starting at 9:00am. Volleyball will travel to participate in the Elwood Invitational. Boys Soccer is on the road to Tri-Central for a 10:00am first kick. Girls Soccer will host Delta at Fisher Field beginning at 10:00am. Boys Tennis will wrap up a busy Saturday hosting the Adams Central Jets. The first serve is scheduled for 10:00am. Girls Soccer can be seen live on MCSC Athletic’s YouTube channel provided by TribeTV.

Events Cancelled . Lady Indians golf and soccer were both rained-out as storms rolled through yesterday evening. There is no date set to complete these two events, but MCSC Athletics will bring our community updates as we get them.

Tonight’s Events . Boys tennis hosts Kokomo tonight at 5:00pm. Volleyball travels to Western for a 6:00pm first serve. Boys soccer is live on TribeTV as they take on the Wabash Apaches at Fisher Field tonight at 6:00pm.
