Big Thursday for the Indians

Tribe Sports Report

MHS Softball . The Lady Indians remain undefeated with a win over Northfield last night 9-1. Jenna Berryhill pitched a one-hit game while recording 11 strikeouts. Madison Stanley went 3-4 at the plate with a double and an RBI while Madison Dotterweich was 2-4 with 2 RBIs to lead the ladies.

MHS Baseball . The Indians picked up their first win last night at Peru 8-7. No official report was submitted for this road game.

MHS Track & Field . The Boys Track & Field team lost to Wabash last night. Andre Sallade won the 400m and the 200m. Elijah Standridge won the long jump, Tabias Mead the 100m, and Jason Arbogast won the shot put. The 4×100 relay team also earned first including Heisman Skeens, John Hall, Standridge, and Mead.

The Lady Indians defeated Wabash 66-61. Carli Fones won three events including the 100m, 200m, and 400m. Mary Zerbe won the 100m high hurdles and the 300m low hurdles. Raegan Tippey captured the 1600m, Aurora Fisher won the 3200m, and Haleigh Skeens won the long jump. Skeens joined Alayna Webb, Beth Lucas, and Zoe Rogers for a win in the 4×100 relay.

Indians Golf in action!
Indians won on a 5th-man tie breaker last night.

MHS Boys Golf . Mississinewa hit the links at Southern Wells and defeated the Raiders on a 5th-man tiebreaker 182-182. Hunter Walters secured the win by beating his opponent 54-57. Bryce Luedtke shot a 41, Ty Corey 44, Justin Dakin 48, and Ryan Scott shot a 49 to round out the Indians scoring.

RJB Track & Field . The Junior Indians traveled to Oak Hill last night. Here are the results for the boys as reported by Coach VanWinkle. Landon Johnson and Konner Ricks won the 110 hurdles. Hayden Nelson won the 100m, 200m, and long jump.

Tonight’s Events . Softball and Baseball host games tonight at Mississinewa, both starting at 5:00pm. The Lady Indians face-off against Bellmont while the boys host Southwood.

Saturday’s Events . This weekend Baseball will travel to Northwestern for a 10:00am first pitch. This is the only contest as Mississinewa prepares for Prom 2019 to be held at Mississinewa High School with After-Prom at Indiana Wesleyan.

MHS Softball . The Lady Indians softball team defeated Wes-Del in 5 innings last night 10-0. Cierra Vasquez allowed only 2 hits and a walk while striking out 8 Lady Warriors. Jenna Berryhill, Aubrey Tann, and Madison Dotterweich led the Lady Indians with impressive performances at the plate.

Tonight’s Events . All contests tonight have a 5:00pm start time except Baseball as they travel all the way to Peru to take on the Tigers at 6:00pm. Track & Field will compete at Wabash, Boys Golf travel to Southern Wells, and Softball take on the Northfield Norse.

Tribe Sports Report

MHS Softball . Mississinewa softball won on the road last night 8-6 over the Wabash Apaches, scoring 3 runs in the top of the 7th to take the lead. Cierra Vasquez and Jenna Berryhill split the pitching duties last night recording 7 strikeouts. Madison Stanley went 3-4 with 3 RBIs and a double.

MHS Girls Tennis . The Lady Indians netted a 5-0 win against Bluffton last night to move to 2-1 on the season. Tyra Stanley has a 6-0, 6-0 win a 2-singles. The JV also won 6-1.

MHS Track & Field . The Indians swept Madison Grant and Elwood in last night’s track event. Both teams together won 10 of 15 events.

The boys won 73-54-23 over Madison Grant and Elwood respectively. Elijah Standridge won four events including the 100m, 200m, long jump, and as a part of the 4×100 relay including Heisman Skeens, Gage Peterson, and Tabias Mead. Brennan Butche won the 1600m, Jon Alsup won the 3200m, Jacob Ehmer won the 800m, and Ty Newsom won the 400m. The 4×800 of Ehmer, Zach Luchetti, Camden Dorothy, and Cameron Sizemore took first along with the 4×400 team of Sizemore, Ehmer, Collin Coffey, and Butche.

The girls won 79-45-32 over Elwood and Madison Grant in that order. The Lady Indians won all the running events except the 4×400. The 4×800 consisted of Julianna Smith, Lynnzey Young, Kara Dawson, and Chloe Saylor. The 4×100 included Haleigh Skeens, Alayna Webb, Beth Lucas, and Zoe Rogers. Lucas also won the 100 high hurdles and 300 low hurdles. Carli Fones won the 100m and 200m. Fones also set a new school record in the 400m at 1:00.23. Aurora Fisher won the 1600m and 3200m. Raegan Tippey won the 800m.

MHS Baseball . Indians baseball lost to Norwell at home last night 7-4. Official stats were not available at time of post.

Tonight’s Events . Varsity Softball hosts the Wes-Del Warriors tonight at 5:00pm for the only activity in Indian Nation.
