Lady Indians Fall at Marion

Tribe Sports Report

MHS Girls Basketball . The Lady Indians lost last night to the Marion Giants 57-44 on the road. Caily Bolser led the team with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Mississinewa hosts the Northfield Norsemen on Thursday before a CIC contest on Saturday at Blackford.

MHS Track & Field . Conditioning for sprinters resumes on Thursday, January 10th at 2:45pm. Athletes should report to the MHS Instructional Weight Room. Any questions can be directed to Coach Arbogast.

Important Info for Events at Blackford This Weekend . Parking is available in the North and West lots for the girls and boys basketball games this weekend at Blackford. Contruction is ongoing on the south side of the school by the church, and visitors are asked to avoid that area. Fans are asked to use doors 2, 3, and 4.

Tonight’s Events . Mississinewa Boys Basketball travels to Bellmont for a triple-header with the Braves starting at 6:00pm. The C-Team will play in the secondary gymnasium while the JV and Varsity contests will be in the main gym.

Today’s Sports World Update

NBA . Indiana defeated Cleveland 123-115 last night to move to 27-13 on the season. Thaddeus Young led all scorers with 26 points. The Pacers play in Boston tonight against a tough Celtics team (24-15) driven by Kyrie Irving.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . The top team in the land, the Duke Blue Devils defeated Wake Forest in their first true road game of the season 87-65. Zion Williamson scored 30 points while pulling down 10 boards. Michigan State defeated Purdue 77-59. Tennessee, Texas Tech, Kentucky, and North Carolina all won as well.

NFL . The Indianapolis Colts travel to Kansas City in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs this Saturday. Game time at Arrowhead Stadium is 4:35pm (NBC).

MHS Track & Field . Conditioning for sprinters resumes on Thursday, January 10th at 2:45pm. Athletes should report to the MHS Instructional Weight Room. Any questions can be directed to Coach Arbogast.

MHS Boys Basketball . The C-Team will reschedule their January 21st game with Southwood. The new date is February 13th and will be played at 6:00pm.

Tonight’s Events . Coach Tandy and the Lady Indians travel to Marion High School for a varsity-only game that will tip at 7:00pm tonight. This is the only event for the night.

NBA . Indiana will be in Cleveland tonight to face the 8-32 Cavaliers. The Pacers are 3rd in the Eastern Conference with a 26-13 record. Milwaukee and Toronto top the conference with the Cavs placing dead last.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . The #1 Duke Blue Devils play Wake Forest tonight on the road (7:00pm, ESPN). Purdue will battle #6 Michigan State in Big Ten action (9:00pm, ESPN2). Other games to watch include #8 Texas Tech hosting #23 Oklahoma, and #12 North Carolina will battle #15 North Carolina State (9:00pm, ESPN).

Travis Etienne rushed for 86 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Justyn Rose complete 6 receptions on 153 yards with a touchdown.

Break Quick Highlights . The Boys Basketball team captured the Grant Four title during break on their home court, while the Lady Indians made it all the way to the championship before losing to Oak Hill. Indian wrestlers competed well during break capturing a few top finished in multiple events.

Tonight’s Events . C-Team Basketball travels to Delta High School in Royerton at 6:00pm to launch the athletic events for the second semester at Mississinewa Schools.

Today’s Sports World Update

NBA . The Pacers dropped to 26-13 with a loss to the Raptors 121-105. Bojan Bogdanovic scored 21 points in the loss for Indiana. The Pacers return to Cleveland on Tuesday to face the 8-32 Cavs.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . The #2 Michigan Wolverines topped Indiana on Sunday 74-63. Juwan Morgan of the Hoosiers led all scorers with 25 points. On Saturday, #1 Duke opened up their ACC season with 87-68 win over Clemson. Iowa State pulled a big upset over #5 Kansas 77-60, and the #8 Spartans of Michigan State topped #14 Ohio State 86-77 which could be a foreshadowing to the champion of the Big Ten.

NFL . Indianapolis defeated the Houston Texans 21-7 this weekend to advance in the playoffs, and will play the Chiefs. Andrew Luck was 19/32 for 222 yards and 2 touchdowns to Dontrelle Inman and Eric Ebron. Marlon Mack rushed for 148 yards and the Colts third touchdown of the game.

NCAA Football . The Alabama Crimson Tide will face the Clemson Tigers tonight at 8:00pm (ESPN) for the College Football National Championship. Both teams are undefeated at 14-0.
