Tribe Sports Report

MHS Boys Golf . The Indians defeated Madison Grant on the links last night 181-241. Bryce Luedtke and Ryan Scott shot a 44. Ty Corey added a 45, and Justin Dakin shot a 48.

MHS Girls Tennis . The Lady Indians hosted Blackford on Wednesday with rain in the background. Mississinewa won 5-0 to move to 3-0 in the CIC and retain the Traveling Racket. Overall the team is 8-3. The junior varsity also won 7-1. Tyra Stanley and Maggie Herring won their matches 6-0, 6-0.

MHS Baseball . The Indian sluggers won 13-1 yesterday at Southern Wells. Owen Felver earned the win on the mound in 5 innings pitched with 7 strikeouts, and giving up only 3 hits. Ole Miss accumulated 14 hits as a team. Nathan Henderson and Seth Maddox went 2-3 with 3 RBIs, Kreigh Young was 2-4, Cade Campbell ran out a triple, and Drew Castanon and Colin Yoder knocked in 2 RBIs.

Tonight’s Events . Boys Golf will hot Eastbrook tonight in a 4:30pm tee time. Baseball and Softball host Elwood at 5:00pm. The JV Baseball team is on the road at Blackford while the JV Softball team will play at home following the varsity contest.

MHS Baseball . Varsity Baseball defeated Frankton in 5 innings with a score of 10-0. No official statistics were reported.

MHS Softball . The Lady Indians Softball team defeated Frankton last night 6-3 on the road. Jenna Berryhill struck out 11 while giving up 5 hits and 3 walks. Berryhill also went 2-4 at the plate. Kylie Smalley was 3-4 with a double, and Madison Stanley was 2-4 with a home run.

MHS Track & Field . Last night the boys and girls both placed second at Oak Hill falling to the Eagles but defeating the Alexandria Tigers. Carli Fones won the 100m, 200m, and 400m. Beth Lucas won the 300m hurdles with a time of 47.22 which was good for a new school record. Haleigh Skeens won the long jump then teamed up with Lucas, Alayna Webb, and Zoe Rogers to win the 4×100 relay.

MHS Girls Tennis . Heidi Rowley and Tyra Stanley gave the Lady Indians a 2-0 lead before Maggie Herring battled at 3-singles to give Mississinewa the 3-2 conference win and bring home the traveling racket. The junior varsity team lost to the Tigers 7-0.

Tonight’s Events . Boys Golf tees off at Madison Grant at 4:30pm this afternoon. Girls Tennis hosts Blackford at 5:00pm, and Baseball will travel to Poneto to play Southern Wells at 5:00pm.

New IHSAA Sectionals

Tribe Sports Report

MHS Baseball . The JV Indians defeated Oak Hill last night for the only event on the schedule. Dakota Ancil had a great performance on the mound in the 14-0 win.

Sectional Realignments . The IHSAA announced the 2019-2020 Sectional alignments. For a complete look at the IHSAA Press Release click here.

Boys Basketball will compete against Bellmont, Eastern (Greentown), Heritage, Norwell, and Oak Hill in Sectional 23.

Girls Basketball Sectional 23 includes Bellmont, Ft. Wayne Bishop Luers, Heritage, Norwell, and Oak Hill for the Lady Indians.

Football’s Sectional 20 will place the Indians against Delta, Ft. Wayne Southside, Ft. Wayne Wayne, Huntington North, Jay County, Marion, and New Haven.

Boys Soccer will face Eastern (Greentown), Maconaquah, Northwestern, Oak Hill, Peru, Tipton, and Western in Class 2A Sectional 21.

Girls Soccer will compete against Maconaquah, Northwestern, Oak Hill, Peru, and Western in Sectional 21.

Volleyball will place the Lady Indians against Maconaquah, Northwestern, Oak Hill, Peru, and Western in Sectional 24 of Class 3A.

Tonight’s Events . Girls Tennis travels to Alexandria and Track will compete at Oak Hill alongside Alexandria. Both of those events start at 5:00pm. Baseball and Softball are slated for a 5:30pm first pitch at Frankton with JV Softball to follow. Finally, RJB Soccer kicks-off on Fisher Field at 6:00pm.

Don’t forget that the Grant Four Tournaments for Baseball and Softball have been rescheduled to Saturday, May 18th.C
