James Reed to lead Indians in 2018-2019

Tribe Sports Report

JV Softball and Girls Tennis were both rained out last night. Rescheduled dates for both of these events have yet to be established.

James Reed will take the helm of the Indians Boys Basketball team for the 2018-2019 season after being approved last night by the Mississinewa Schools Board of Trustees. Reed has been an assistant under Coach Andrew Evertts, and is an Exceptional Education teacher at Mississinewa High School.

MHS Baseball . The JV Indians traveled to Maconaquah last night and moved to 2-1 on the season with a 18-5 victory. Hunter Ribble earned the win on the mound and batted 2-4 with 5 RBIs. Landen Swanner was 2-2 with 2 walks and 3 RBIs, and Brendan Gochenour batted 2-3.

Tonight’s Events . Girls Tennis travels to Western, Boys Golf tees off at Elwood, and Track & Field will host Eastbrook starting at 4:30pm. Baseball will visit Blackford with the JV and Varsity Softball teams to take on the Bruins. Action in Hartford City begins at 5:00pm. RJB Baseball plays at Wabash at 5:00pm, and RJB Softball hosts Cowan at 5:30pm.

NHL . The Toronto Maple Leafs tied their series with Boston last night 3-3, after winning 3-1. Washington wrapped up the series with Columbus with a 6-3 win. Toronto and Boston will play Game 7 on Wednesday at 7:30pm.

Softball wins in Gaston, and a big night set for RJB and MHS

MHS Softball . Mississinewa took down Wes-Del last night 7-6. Cierra Vasquez earned the win allowing 6 runs on 11 hits and 3 walks with 3 strikeouts. Riley McKee went 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs, Shelby Goble was also 2 of 4 with an added RBI, and Darcie Patton went 2 for 4 with an RBI as well to round out the major contributors.

 

Tonight’s Events . Baseball hosts Peru tonight. That game will start a little after 5:00pm due to transportation delays from Peru. JV Softball travels to Norwell for a 5:00pm first pitch against the Knights. RJB Golf faces Oak Hill at Arbor Trace at 5:00pm. MHS Track and Field hosts Wabash, Softball faces Northfield, RJB Baseball takes on Madison Grant, and Boys Golf hosts Southern Wells all starting at 5:00pm. Finally, RJB Softball takes on Eastern at 5:30pm.

Softball falls to Cass, RJB nets a tie

MHS Softball . Coach Miller and the Lady Indians finally opened up play on their home field last night with a loss to Cass 4-3. Cierra Vasquez pitched for Mississinewa allowing 4 hits and 3 walks in the loss. Vasquez struck out 3 batters. Mallory Sands went 2 for 3 with an RBI, Riley McKee was 2 of 4, and Shelby Goble was 2 of 3.

RJB Soccer . R.J. Baskett opened up play at Mississinewa High School last night against Blackford. After being down 2-0 at the half, the Junior Indians ended in a tie 2-2.

Tonight’s Events . MHS Softball hosts Wabash at 5:00pm. Indians Baseball travels to Norwell with the first pitch at 5:00pm. MHS Track and Field will host Madison Grant and Elwood tonight at 5:00pm. Finally, Coach Fleming and the Girls Tennis team will host the Bluffton Tigers for a 5:00pm match. None of these events will be live tonight as TribeTV is working on some network issues for the softball complex.


Today’s Sports World Update

NBA . Tonight, Indiana faces Charlotte tonight at 7:00pm at Bankers Fieldhouse. This is the final game in the regular season as Indiana was unable to climb out of the 5th seed spot in the Eastern Conference. The Pacers will try to look for their 28th win at home this season.

NFL . Reports say that Andrew Luck has yet to touch a football this spring, and the Colts are beginning to see a huge setback for the upcoming training camps.

MLB . Here are the latest scores from Major League Baseball…

  • The Chicago White Sox lost to Tampa Bay 5-4.
  • Cleveland topped Detroit 2-0.
  • St. Louis lost to the Brewers 5-4.
  • The Reds were defeated by the Phillies 6-5.
  • The Cubs game was snowed out as Chicago is still battling snowy weather.
