Boys Basketball Wins at Wabash

Tribe Sports Report

MHS Boys Basketball . The Indians played a tough Wabash team last night and picked up a win 70-52 on the road. Tai McClung had 26 points to lead the Indians. Anthony Horton added 14, Heisman Skeens 13, and Landen Swanner scored 8 points. The JV team also defeated the Wabash Apaches by a score of 54-50. Leading the scoring for the Indians were Bryce Luedtke with 11 and Keagan Williams adding 10 points to the win. Mississinewa plays Delta on Saturday with a junior varsity tip at 11:00am.

RJB Athletics . No results were reported for the junior high events last night.

Tonight’s Events . The C-Team Boys Basketball game that was scheduled for tonight is cancelled, and no rescheduled date has been set. RJB Girls and Boys Basketball will travel to Elwood tonight. The girls play at 6:30pm followed by the boys at 7:30pm.

Today’s Sports World Update

NCAA Men’s Basketball . #2 Duke defeated Notre Dame 83-61 in ACC action. There were no other “Top 25” games last night.

NCAA Women’s Basketball . #12 Texas topped West Virginia 64-58 in women’s hoops last night. #16 South Carolina also picked up a win over Vanderbilt 80-69.

NAIA Athletics . Indiana Wesleyan host Saint Francis tonight in a men’s and women’s basketball double-header. The men will play first at 6:00pm. The Taylor Trojans will also host a double-header against Huntington tonight. The Lady Trojans will play first at 6:00pm.

NBA . Golden State defeated the Pacers last night in Indianapolis 132-100. Myles Turner was Indiana’s top scorer with 16 points and adding 6 rebounds. Stephen Curry scored 26 for the Warriors.

TribeTV to Stream Sectionals

Tribe Sports Report

Sectionals . TribeTV student-media productions will stream wrestling, girls basketball, and boys basketball sectionals live on the MCSC Athletic’s YouTube channel. Wrestling sectionals will be held this Saturday at Oak Hill High School starting at 9:00am. The girls basketball team will play Columbia City at the IHSAA Sectional 23 at Norwell High School next Wednesday, January 30. The Lady Indians will tip at 7:30pm, but the stream will start at approximately 7:15pm.

Tonight’s Events . The RJB 6th grade Girls Basketball team will travel to Alexandria for a 5:30pm game. 6th grade Boys Basketball will host Wabash at 6:00pm, and the RJB Girls Basketball team will play at Kokomo Maple Crest this evening starting at 6:00pm.

Today’s Sports World Update

NCAA Men’s Basketball . Tennessee earned a top ranking this week, and had a scare last night as they slid by Vanderbilt 88-83. #6 Michigan State faces #19 Iowa tonight, and #21 NC State will take on #23 Louisville.

NCAA Women’s Basketball . #2 Baylor defeated #20 Iowa State 84-69 last night in ladies hoops. #3 UCONN also won big against SMU.

NAIA Athletics . Indiana Wesleyan Lady Wildcats basketball defeated Mt. Vernon Nazarene yesterday 71-49. Nicole Ignasiak netted 19 points for IWU in the win. The Taylor Lady Trojans basketball team defeated Marian yesterday 70-63. Kendall Bradbury led Taylor with 17 points.

NBA . Indiana topped the Raptors last night 110-106 at Bankers Life. Thaddeus Young scored 23 points and pulled down 15 rebounds in the win. Victor Oladipo was stretchered off the court with what seems to be a serious knee injury.

Lady Indians Struggle on Senior Night

MHS Girls Basketball . The Lady Indians celebrated its senior athletes last night as they took on the Frankton Eagles. Mississinewa lost 51-47 after leading at the half. Individual statistics have yet to be reported for this contest. Coach Tandy and team finish 13-9 on the season with a 5-2 conference record. Mississinewa plays Columbia City on Wednesday, January 30 in the IHSAA Sectional 23 at Norwell High School. TribeTV will have live coverage of the 2019 Girls Basketball Tournament.

Tonight’s Events . C-Team Boys Basketball travels to Lewis-Cass for a 6:00pm tip. This is the only event of the evening.

Today’s Sports World Update

MLB . The baseball season is close, and the votes are in for the 2019 class of the MLB Hall of Fame. Mariano Rivera is the first unanimous decision voted into the hall. Edgar Martinez, Roy Halladay, and Mike Mussina join Rivera in this years induction.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . Butler lost to #18 Villanova last night 80-72. The mid-ranked teams were tested last night as Kansas State, Northern Illinois, South Carolina, and Alabama all knocked off top 25 teams. Duke, Virginia, Michigan, and Kentucky all won in top ten action.

NBA . The 31-15 Indiana Pacers will host the Toronto Raptors tonight at Bankers Life. Toronto is 36-13 with a 15-9 road-record.

NFL . On February 3rd the New England Patriots will travel back to the Super Bowl to take on the Los Angeles Rams at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The game will be on CBS starting at 6:30pm.
