Softball Sectionals at Mississinewa

Tribe Sports Special Report

2019 Softball Sectional 23 . Mississinewa High School, Athletic Director Chanse Young, and the Lady Indians will be the host for Sectional 23 this spring. Bellmont, Columbia City, Heritage, Marion, and Norwell will join Mississinewa at this site.

TribeTV student-media productions will stream the entire softball sectional live on MCSC Athletics YouTube in HD. Streams start approximately 15 minutes before game time. Contact Media Director Brooks Holloway for stream-related questions or concerns.

All games are at 5:30pm. Second team listed is “Home”.

Gates will open one hour before game time for spectators. Admission for a single game is $6.00. Tickets for the week are $10.00. Parking and facilities overview below.

Indian News . Don’t forget about renewing the IHSAA student-athletics physical for the new year. Information will be provided very soon from Athletic Director Young.

Contact information for all varsity coaches is listed at MCSCAthletics.com. If any student is interested in participating in the 2019-2020 school year they should contact that coach before summer break.

MHS Trap Shooting . The Trap Club competed in the county-wide tournament this past weekend and finished in 2nd place.

MHS Baseball . The varsity Indians lost to Homestead on Saturday 5-3. No official statistics were reported.

Justin Dakin earns All-Conference at Arbor Trace

MHS Boys Golf . Coach Roesch and Indian Golf placed 3rd in the Central Indiana Conference Tournament on Saturday at Arbor Trace hosted by Eastbrook High School. Bryce Luedtke show an 80 to lead the team and earn All-Conference honors. Ty Corey (82) and Justin Dakin (83) also earned All-Conference. Ryan Scott shot 99 to give the team a total of 344.

MHS Softball . The Lady Indians Softball team competed in the 2019 Round-Robin event at Angola on Saturday. Mississinewa lost to Whitko 11-3 in game one, and lost to Angola 10-4 in game two. Kandis Downam pitched in both games for Mississinewa.

In game one, Downham allowed 9 hits and 3 walks before Ireland Thien took the mound. Thien struck out 3 while allowing 5 hits and a walk. Alivia Rice and Justyce Moore had doubles at the plate.

Bryce Luedtke earns All-Conference at Arbor Trace

In game two against Angola, Downam struck-out 2 while giving up 6 walks and 10 hits. Kylie Smalley and Riley Mckee were 2 of 3, and Katie Hosier was 2 of 2.

MHS Girls Tennis . On Saturday, Mississinewa Lady Indians Tennis competed in the Concordia Invitational. Heidi Rowley was the champion at 1-Singles. Rowley defeated Bishop Dwenger, Canterbury, and Bellmont. Ella Frantz and Taylor Kern were Runner-Up at the 1-Doubles spot defeating Noble and Concordia before losing to Canterbury. Mississinewa was only 7 points away from first place Canterbury. Concordia came in second.

Tonight’s Events . Boys Golf tees off against Alexandria today at 4:30pm. Baseball travels to Madison Grant, Girls Tennis host Muncie Burris, and Softball hosts Northwestern all starting at 5:00pm. Lady Indian Softball will be live on MCSC Athletics YouTube provided by TribeTV.

Weather Outlook . There is only a 20% chance of rain throughout Monday with temperatures getting up into the mid-50’s. Temperatures will continue to rise all week getting into the 70’s by the middle of the week with an enhanced chance of rain on Thursday and Friday.

Tennis Wins, Trouble on the Diamonds

Indian News . Football players should get a summer schedule from Coach Funk as soon as possible. The summer training window opens on Tuesday, May 28.

MHS Baseball . Mississinewa lost to a very talented Alexandria team last night 6-2 at Atkinson Field. No official stats were reported.

MHS Softball . Alexandria defeated the Lady Indians last night 3-2 with Jenna Berryhill pitching. Berryhill allowed 5 hits and 5 walks while striking out 9 Tigers. Kylie Smalley went 2 of 4 with a double and an RBI.

MHS Girls Tennis . The Lady Indians defeated Hamilton Heights 3-1 before the rain shut down the full match. Mississinewa swept the singles matches. Ella Frantz and Taylor Kern could’ve made it 4-1 with a win at 1-Doubles, but the rain shortened their play while leading 6-3, 5-0, and up 40-30. The Junior Varsity lost 3-0. Coach Fleming and the Lady Indians are 10-3 with Madison Grant coming up in their final conference match.

Tonight’s Events . Girls Tennis hosts Madison Grant tonight at 5:00pm for the only competition of the evening.

Weekend’s Events . On Saturday, Girls Tennis will compete in the Concordia Invitational beginning at 9:00am. Lady Indians Softball will compete in a Round-Robin at Angola between the hosts and Adams Central. That event will start at 10:00am. Varsity Baseball will take on Homestead on the road with the first pitch coming at 10:00am. Boys Golf rounds out the weekend action by competing in the CIC Tournament hosted by Eastbrook at Arbor Trace. Tee times begin at approximately 2:00pm.

Weather Outlook . A chilling evening at 55 will affect the Lady Indians Tennis match today. There is no rain in the forecast until late afternoon on Saturday with highs barely climbing into the 60s. The rain may affect the CIC Golf Event at Arbor Trace.
