When it comes to High School tennis in Grant County there are two teams that are on top and that’s the Mississinewa Indians and the Marion Giants. The Mississinewa and Marion match for both the boys and the girls is one of the best rivalry matches in the state every year. Coach Doug Porter will welcome first-year head coach Caroline Cassidy and her Lady Indians to the Bill Beekman tennis courts tomorrow evening as the first serve will be at 5 pm. Through the many past seasons, it was been a 3-2 match both ways but a season ago Indians legendary head coach Bruce Fleming, in his last season before retirement, lead the Mississinewa boys tennis team to two victories over Porter and his Giants 5-0 both times. One of those times being in the State Tournament which propelled the Indians to be the Marion sectional and regional champions. So, tomorrow night Coach Cassidy will take her alum team into battle as they take on the Giants of Marion. Match one of two this season is set to be played tomorrow night.
