Girls Soccer Wins Big

Tribe Sports Report

MHS Girls Golf . Coach Simpson and the girls golf team defeated Wes-Del last night. Peighten Allen was the medalist with a 51.

MHS Girls Soccer . The Lady Indians defeated Wapahani on the road 8-3 last night.

MHS Boys Soccer . Boys Soccer came away with a draw against the Wapahani Raiders at Fisher Field 1-1. Collin Yoder had the only goal for the Indians, while Conner Layman recorded 3 saves in the net.

MHS Volleyball . Volleyball lost to Alexandria 3-1 last night and now faces a battle for second place in the CIC. The Lady Indians and Tigers were the only two teams left undefeated in the conference.

RJB Sports . There were no results reported on RJB Tennis, Cross Country, or Volleyball from last night.

Tonight’s Events . Girls Soccer will host Muncie Burris at 5:30pm tonight. Boys Tennis will also battle for a conference win with the Elwood Panthers here at Mississinewa starting at 5:00pm. RJB Tennis travels to Madison Grant for a 5:00pm first serve.


Today’s Sports World Update

MLB . The Detroit Tigers lost to Houston last night 5-4. Cincinnati topped the Dodgers 3-1. Cleveland defeated the Rays 2-0. The Cubs won 3-0 over the Brewers, while the White Sox lost 6-3 to Kansas City. Lastly, the St. Louis Cardinals won 11-5 over Pittsburgh on Tuesday night.

Soccer . The US Men’s National Team defeated Mexico last night 1-0 on a 71st minute goal by Tyler Adams.

Tennis Tackles Tigers, Volleyball Sweeps Comets

MHS Boys Tennis . The Indians battled through a crazy evening, and eventually came back to defeat the Alexandria Tigers on the road 3-2. Conner Murphy sealed the deal for Mississinewa at 1-Singles after entering the match tied 2-2 as a team. The Doubles pairs picked up the other two wins for the Indians who are now 8-6 on the season and 3-0 in the conference. The junior varsity also won 2-0.

MHS Girls Golf . Mississinewa Lady Indians golf competed in the 2018 Grant Four at Arbor Trace last night. The team came in 4th with a score of 228. Maggie LaBarr shot a 53 to lead the team.

MHS Girls Soccer . The girls soccer team traveled to Tipton to take on the Blue Devils and came up short with a 5-0 loss. No official statistics were reported.

MHS Football . The Eastbrook Panthers were again the focus of Indians football last night. The 9th grade team lost 34-6, and the junior varsity squad lost 14-12.

MHS Volleyball . In a rescheduled match, the Lady Indians hosted the Eastern Comets last night. Mississinewa won 3-0 in the varsity match, and 2-0 at the JV level. No official statistics were reported. Fans can watch this event on replay now on MCSC Athletic’s YouTube channel provided by TribeTV.

Tonight’s Events . Girls Golf hosts Wes-Del at Shady Hills at 4:30pm. Girls Soccer will travel to Wapahani for a 5:30pm kick-off with the Raiders. Volleyball faces Alexandria on the road in a big CIC contest at 6:00pm. Boys Soccer will host Wapahani at 6:00pm at Fisher Field. RJB Volleyball will take the 6th grade with the team to battle the Wes-Del Warriors starting at 5:00pm. RJB Tennis will serve this evening against the Eastern Comets, and RJB Cross Country rounds-out the nights events running against Peru and Wabash at Wabash starting at 5:00pm.

Today’s Sports World Update

NFL . The season’s first Monday Night Football event featured the Jets in a 48-17 win over the Lions and the Rams defeating the Raiders 33-13.

NASCAR . Brad Kesolowski won at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the Monster Energy Cup at the Brickyard. Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick are the points leaders after Monday’s race.

PGA Golf . Keegan Bradley won the BMW Championship in Pennsylvania on Monday after defeating Justin Rose in a playoff hole. Tiger Woods finished in a 6th place tie at 17-under.

MLB . On Monday in Major League Baseball, the Detroit Tigers lost to the Astros 3-2. The Reds won 10-6 over the Dodgers. Cleveland lost 6-5 to the Rays. The Chicago Cubs lost 3-2 to Milwaukee. The White Sox lost 4-3 to the Royals, and the Cardinals won 8-7 over Pittsburgh.

Soccer . Andre Silva scored for Portugal in a 1-0 win over Italy in the Nations League on Monday. The United States faces Mexico tonight at 8:30pm on ESPN. Both teams are entering the international friendly on a two-game win streak.

Butche Wins by 25 seconds, Indians Own the Jug

547MHS Cross Country . Coach Van Winkle took the Indian runners to the Wildcat Invitational on Saturday. The boys finished 9th out of 14 teams while the girls finished 5th out of 11. Brennan Butche won the Red Race in a time of 16:56.7, and Aurora Fisher won the girls race with a time of 22:49.9. Raegan Tippey finished 4th, and Carli Fones came in 16th.

MHS Volleyball . The Lady Indians won the Rossville Invitational on Saturday. No official results were reported.

MHS Boys Tennis . The Indians were rained out on Saturday at Northeastern. That boys tennis match has yet to be given a rescheduled date.

MHS Girls Golf . Grant Four at Arbor Trace was postponed due to rain. Golfers will resume tournament play today on the north side of Marion.

Senior Heisman Skeens rushed for two touchdowns and completed a scoring pass to Junior Drew Castanon. Cade Campbell had two rushing touchdowns and a pair of two-point conversions, and on defense recovered a fumble. Andre Sallade kicked four extra points.

RJB Tennis . The Junior Indians tennis match with Shenandoah was cancelled on Saturday.

RJB Volleyball . No official results were reported from the RJB volleyball event.

Tonight’s Events . Boys tennis will travel to Alexandria tonight at 4:30pm to take on the Tigers. Girls Golf will compete at the rain-postponed Grant Four today at Arbor Trace tentatively slated to start at 4:30pm. Girls Soccer will face the Tipton Blue Devils on the road starting at 5:00pm. The 9th grade and JV football teams will host Eastbrook tonight starting at 6:00pm. Volleyball will take on Eastern at home starting at 6:00pm. This game was moved from the September 24th date.


Today’s Sports World Update

NFL . The Indianapolis Colts opened the season with a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals 34-23. Andrew Luck was the bright spot for the Colts. He threw 39 of 53 with 319 yards including two touchdowns. In week two, Indianapolis will be in Washington to face the Redskins at FedEx Field on Sunday at 1:00pm (CBS).

NCAA Football . The top 25 went as scripted this past weekend for the most part. #15 Michigan State fell to Arizona State 16-13, and the Kentucky Wildcats upset #25 Florida 27-16. Ball State turned some heads as well hanging with #8 Notre Dame. The Cardinals ended up losing 24-16.

NASCAR . The Monster Energy Cup was postponed on Sunday, and will run today at 2:00pm at the Brickyard in Indianapolis. Race fans can watch live on the NBC Sports Network.

PGA Golf . Justin Rose leads at the BMW Championship in Newton Square. Rose is 17-under through three rounds. Tiger Woods is 12-under with some tough competition between Rose and himself, as round four starts today.

MLB . The Cleveland Indians lost 6-2 to the Blue Jays. St. Louis defeated the Tigers 5-2. The White Sox were edged-out 1-0 by the Angels. The Cincinnati Reds lost to San Diego 7-5, and the Cubs were postponed in their game with the Nationals.

Soccer . The UEFA Nations League is the focus of the international break. Portugal faces Italy today at 2:45pm in the spotlight match on ESPN Plus. On Tuesday, Spain will face Croatia in one of seven UEFA matches. The United States will face Mexico in an international friendly on ESPN on Tuesday at 8:30pm.
