Girls sectional set to tip off

Today’s Tribe Sports Report written by the Tribe Sports Network Director Ryan Scott.

Indian News: Mississinewa High School will be the host site for the 45th IHSAA girls basketball sectional, Missssinewa will have sectional 23 with the teams of Misissinewa, Bellmont, Oak Hill, Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, Eastern and Heritage. IHSAA Sectional 23 breakdown:
Game 1: Norwell vs FW Bishop Luers
Game 2: Bellmont vs Eastern (Greentown)
Game 3: Heritage vs Oak Hill
Game 4: Mississinewa vs winner of game 1
Game 5: Winner of game 2 and 3
Championship on Saturday-Winner moves on to regionals

  • RJB 6th Boys Basketball vs. Elwood at 7:00

Boys Basketball: Coach Reed and his Tribe move to 14-2 as they took down Alexandria Friday night 84-79. The Indians put 5 players in double figures on the night.  Lead by Tai McClung’s 22, Anthony Horton followed with 20,  Landen Swanner had 14 and Hayden Ulerick and Colin Yoder each had 10 and 11 points. Horten with his 20 points, 11 assists, and 7 rebounds. McClung was the leading rebounder for the Indians with 9.

Wrestling: Indian wrestlers competed in the sectional on Saturday. Leading the Indians were Kyler Funk with a 1st place finish at 195lbs, Nick Coulter with a 3rd Place finish at 132lbs. Both Kyler and Nick will compete in the Regional on Saturday at Peru.
