Boys Hoops Battle Apaches, Eagles

Today’s Tribe Sports Report written by the Media Director Brooks Holloway


MHS Boys Basketball . The Varsity Indians won last night in Wabash 54-46 with a CIC weekend ahead at Elwood. No individual report was made at time of report for the varsity team. The Junior Varsity team won big against the Apaches 49-21. All Indians scored, with Ty Newsom leading the charge with 12 points.

RJB Boys Basketball . The A-Teams swept the Oak Hill Eagles last night in the 7th and 8th grade games. At RJB, the 8th grade A-Team won 30-18 with Jaxon Ott leading the way with 10 points. The B-Team lost 51-37. Lio Matamoros had 15 points. At Oak Hill, the 7th grade A-Team won 43-25. Seth Yoder (11) and Daylong Davis (10) led the Junior Indians. The B-Team lost 26-25. Edward Maurer and Eli Fritch each had 10 points.

Schedule Updates . Girls Basketball tonight will be a “varsity-only” contest starting at 6:30pm.

Boys Varsity Basketball will face Blackford on February 4 at 7:00pm. The Lady Indians will play Blackford on January 25.

Boys Basketball C-Team will not play Elwood this weekend, nor will they face Marion on February 10. Boys Hoops will tip against Elwood at 6:00pm.

The RJB Lady Indians will not face Kokomo on February 9, that game has been cancelled.

RJB Wrestlers will not participate in the Frankfort Invitational on March 6, as it has been cancelled.

Tonight, MHS Wrestling travels to the Raider Three-Way at Shenandoah (6:00pm), RJB Girls Basketball travels to Oak Hill (6:00pm), and MHS Girls Basketball hosts Alexandria in a “varsity-only” contest. The tip for that game is set for 6:30pm.

Girls Hoops Dominate, Weekend Ahead

MHS Girls Basketball . The Lady Indians defeated Providence Cristo Rey last night 76-30 at Mississinewa High School. Alayna Webb scored 26 points with 5 steals and 5 rebounds. Mia Catey added 16 points and 10 boards. Kaiyah Jones scored 13 points with 4 rebounds. Marley Starnes rounded out a night of career highs with 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 steals.

MHS Wrestling . In the Aux-Gym last night, the Indians hosted the Southern Wells Raiders and earned a win 39-30 with CIC Wrestling ahead all weekend.

RJB 8th Girls Basketball . The Junior Lady Indians defeated Southern Wells 30-28. Jaci Crick led the team with 15 points, followed by 8 points from Carsyn Yeakle, and 5 points from Zoe Smith.

Saturday R.J. Baskett will host the 8th grade Grant Four tournaments at the high school starting at 9:00am. All Main Gymnasium games will be on MCSC Athletics YouTube.
