Tribe Sports Report

A rain-soaked Saturday forced several cancellations for the Indians. Girls and boys soccer matches were cancelled even after the boys attempted their game at Fisher Field. RJB Cross Country was cancelled at Taylor University, and at this point MCSC Athletics is still awaiting official word on the day for the high school runners. Boys Tennis also had a tournament at Mooresville, but no official word was reported on the day.

MHS Girls Golf . The Lady Indians missed the victory at the CIC match this weekend placing 6th, but Maggie LaBarr earned all-conference honors on the day.

MHS Football . The Indians defeated the New Haven Bulldogs on Friday evening 37-0. Cade Campbell ran three touchdowns in while causing a Bulldog safety. Carson Campbell and Andrew Cruz each added a rushing touchdown. Andre Sallade was a perfect 5-5 kicking. Mississinewa is on the road again this Friday at Elwood.

  • Defensive Player of the Week went to Team Defense
  • Tuff Man Award went to Heisman Skeens
  • The Warrior of the Week is Cade Campbell, Tabias Mead, and Kyler Funk
  • Special Teams Performance of the Week went to Andre Sallade and Hunter Ribble
  • Lineman of the Week was Chris Pavey
  • 6-Second Player Award was given to Carson Campbell

Tonight’s Events . RJB Volleyball will host East Jay tonight at 6:00pm while the Lady Indians take on the Oak Hill Eagles at the high school. JV Football hosts New Haven this evening. Kick-off will also be at 6:00pm.

Today’s Sports World Update

PGA Golf . Bryson DeChambeau won the Northern Trust in New Jersey on Sunday at 18-under. Tiger Woods finished 14 strokes off the leader.

NFL . The Colts defeated San Fransisco 23-17 on Saturday. Jacoby Brissett, Andrew Luck, and Phillip Walker all took snaps. Luck was 8 of 10 for 90 yards. Indianapolis faces the Bengals on Thursday in the fourth week of the preseason.

NCAA Football . On Saturday, September 1st Alabama opens up against Louisville as the preseason number one. Michigan faces Notre Dame at 7:30pm on NBC, and No. 6 Washington will battle No. 9 Auburn at 3:30 on ABC.

Premiere League Soccer . Chelsea edged out a 2-1 win over New Castle Sunday with the help of an own goal. Chelsea currently sit atop the table with Liverpool with Manchester United set to face Spurs this afternoon to wrap up week three.

Mississinewa Football at BSU Tix Info

On Saturday, September 15th the Mississinewa Indians football team will travel to Muncie, Indiana to participate in CIC Day at Ball State University. Mississinewa will play Madison Grant at 4:00pm. Tickets are on sale in the Main Office at Mississinewa High School for $10.00 each. Ticket prices will increase at the door. The R.J. Baskett 7th and 8th Grade teams will also be playing at halftime of the varsity contest. Tickets can be purchased Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:00pm. Pre-Sale will end on Friday, September 14th at noon, and all ticket purchases after this time will have to be made at the event.
