MHS Boys Basketball . Mississinewa traveled to Wabash last night, but a power outage forced a cancellation. A rescheduled date has not yet been set.M

Tonight’s Events . Girls Basketball hosts the Alexandria Lady Tigers at 6:00pm which can be seen live on YouTube provided by TribeTV student-media productions. Looking ahead to the weekend, the boys and girls teams set their sights on the Elwood Panthers with a predicted win for the incoming snow. MCSC Athletics and TribeTV will keep everyone updated as the weekend approaches.

Today’s Sports World Update

NCAA Men’s Basketball . #4 Virginia topped #9 Virginia Tech tonight 81-59 in the highlighted game of the evening. Other winners included North Carolina, Tennessee, and Kentucky.

NBA . The Indiana Pacers topped the Phoenix Suns 131-97 last night. Bojan Bogdanovic scored 20 points and pulled down 5 rebounds in the win. The Pacers play next on Thursday as they host the 76ers (7:00pm, TNT).

NFL . ICYMI The Indianapolis Colts lost to Kansas City this past week putting the Chiefs through to face the New England Patriots on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium (6:40pm, CBS). The other conference championship will feature the Los Angelas Rams and the New Orleans Saints on Sunday in New Orleans (3:05pm, FOX).

Wrestling Takes Third, Girls Hoops Over Bruins

MHS Wrestling . The Indians took 3rd place in the 2019 CIC Wrestling Tournament. Day Two was postponed until this past evening from Saturday due to weather but the Indians came back to Elwood High School strong finishing the event at 5-2. Courtland Smith won the Conference Championship at 145.

MHS Girls Basketball . Girls Hoops traveled to Blackford last night and defeated the Bruins 49-12 in a CIC event. The leading scorers were Ally Hewitt (13), Caily Bolser (12), and Riley McKee (8). Darrah Watson had seven steals on the defensive end.

Tonight’s Events . Boys Basketball travels to Wabash to take on the Apaches at 6:00pm tonight for the only event of the evening.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . Unranked Syracuse defeated a depleted #1 Duke team last night in Cameron Indoor 95-91 in overtime. Cam Reddish was sidelined with an illness, and Duke lost another starter about five minutes in when Tre Jones went out with a shoulder injury. Indiana lost to Nebraska, #7 Kansas topped Texas, and Pittsburgh handed #11 Florida State its second tough loss in a row.

Girls Hoops Struggles against Norse

MHS Girls Basketball . No official results were reported for the Lady Indians loss last night to the Northfield Norsemen. From TribeTV student-media, the final score for the Lady Indians was 54-37 in that varsity loss. Alayna Webb scored 14 points for the Indians, and Caily Bolser pulled down 13 rebounds (reported by Scott Hunt of the Chronicle-Tribune). The Junior varsity girls also were defeated.

Tonight’s Events . The Mississinewa Boys Basketball team will travel to Hartford City to take on the Blackford Bruins tonight. Freshman tip is at 5:00pm with the junior varsity and varsity to follow. The Indian Wrestlers will compete this weekend in the CIC Tournament at Elwood. That event starts tonight at 6:00pm and continues through Saturday.

Weekend Events . Coach Tandy and the Lady Indians will look to bounce back after the home-loss against Northfield when they battle the Blackford Bruins at 11:00am on Saturday in Hartford City. The CIC Wrestling Tournament will continue on Saturday at Elwood with the advancing wrestlers starting at 9:00am.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . #2 Michigan defeated Illinois last night 79-69 in Big Ten action. Tonight, #22 Indiana faces Maryland in College Park at 7:00pm (FS1). Saturday will feature some big match-ups across mend’s basketball include the #1 Duke Blue Devils facing #13 Florida State in Tallahassee (2:00pm, ESPN). #12 North Carolina plays Louisville, #25 TCU faces #23 Oklahoma, and #18 Kentucky will host Vanderbilt in just a few of the contests.

NFL . The Indianapolis Colts travel to Kansas City in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs on Saturday. Game time at Arrowhead Stadium is 4:35pm (NBC).
