Track & Field Pick up Wins

Tribe Sports Report

MHS Softball . Mississinewa softball won on the road last night 8-6 over the Wabash Apaches, scoring 3 runs in the top of the 7th to take the lead. Cierra Vasquez and Jenna Berryhill split the pitching duties last night recording 7 strikeouts. Madison Stanley went 3-4 with 3 RBIs and a double.

MHS Girls Tennis . The Lady Indians netted a 5-0 win against Bluffton last night to move to 2-1 on the season. Tyra Stanley has a 6-0, 6-0 win a 2-singles. The JV also won 6-1.

MHS Track & Field . The Indians swept Madison Grant and Elwood in last night’s track event. Both teams together won 10 of 15 events.

The boys won 73-54-23 over Madison Grant and Elwood respectively. Elijah Standridge won four events including the 100m, 200m, long jump, and as a part of the 4×100 relay including Heisman Skeens, Gage Peterson, and Tabias Mead. Brennan Butche won the 1600m, Jon Alsup won the 3200m, Jacob Ehmer won the 800m, and Ty Newsom won the 400m. The 4×800 of Ehmer, Zach Luchetti, Camden Dorothy, and Cameron Sizemore took first along with the 4×400 team of Sizemore, Ehmer, Collin Coffey, and Butche.

The girls won 79-45-32 over Elwood and Madison Grant in that order. The Lady Indians won all the running events except the 4×400. The 4×800 consisted of Julianna Smith, Lynnzey Young, Kara Dawson, and Chloe Saylor. The 4×100 included Haleigh Skeens, Alayna Webb, Beth Lucas, and Zoe Rogers. Lucas also won the 100 high hurdles and 300 low hurdles. Carli Fones won the 100m and 200m. Fones also set a new school record in the 400m at 1:00.23. Aurora Fisher won the 1600m and 3200m. Raegan Tippey won the 800m.

MHS Baseball . Indians baseball lost to Norwell at home last night 7-4. Official stats were not available at time of post.

Tonight’s Events . Varsity Softball hosts the Wes-Del Warriors tonight at 5:00pm for the only activity in Indian Nation.

Lady Indians Win the Weekend

Tribe Sports Report

MHS Baseball . Tribe Baseball fell on Saturday to the Jay County Patriots 4-0 to move to 0-3 on the season. The Indians recorded 6 hits on the day and no fielding errors. Kreigh Young went 2-3 for Mississinewa. Seth Maddox pitched the entire game. The Indians will face Norwell on Tuesday.

MHS Softball . The Lady Indians scored 5 runs in the top of the 8th inning to defeat Lewis Cass on Saturday 8-3. Jenna Berryhill pitched the complete game with 12 strike-outs. Kylie Smalley went 3-5 with 2 RBIs and a double. Berryhill also batted 3-5 with 3 RBIs.

MHS Girls Tennis . On Friday, Coach Fleming and the Lady Indians served at Anderson a 5-0 win to move to 1-1 on the season. Top singles of Heidi Rowley and Tyra Stanley went 6-0, 6-0 for the highlight performances of the day.

Tonight’s Events . JV Softball travels to Western for a 5:00pm first pitch, and the Boys RJB Soccer team will play at Fisher Field at 5:00pm.

Baseball Falls to Apaches

Tribe Sports Report

MHS Baseball . Mississinewa lost to Wabash last night 11-1 after 5 innings of play. The Indians did get on the board first with a run scored from Tyler Jakob in the top of the first on a sacrifice fly. Jakob was 1-3 at the plate, Cade Campbell went 2-3, and Kreigh Young went 2-2. Owen Felver started on the mound for the Indians followed by Cade Campell and Holden Brown. Campbell struck out 3 in his time from the rubber.

This Weekend’s Events . Tonight the Baseball team will host Adams Central at 5:00pm while Girls Tennis will serve at Anderson High School. Baseball will also face Jay County in a varsity-jv double header starting Saturday at 10:00am on Atkinson Field. Softball travels to Lewis-Cass for an 11:00am start in their varsity-jv double header on Saturday to round out the day’s events.
