Softball Advances to Wednesday

Tribe Sports Report

Indian News . Any girl interested in playing golf in the Fall 2019 season needs to pick up an information packet from Mr. Simpson before Friday.

A volleyball call-out meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 22 from 3:15-3:30pm for any girl interested in playing in the the Fall 2019 season. Contact Coach Bolser with any questions or concerns.

Any boy interested in playing basketball needs to see Coach Reed before leaving for the summer this Friday.

There will be a boys soccer call-out meeting tonight at 2:45pm in the MHS Library.

Any student interested in running Cross Country in the Fall 2019 season should attend the meeting Wednesday, May 22 in the MHS Cafeteria immediately after school.

MHS Softball . The Lady Indians advanced last night in IHSAA Sectional play by defeating Heritage 10-0 in 7 innings. Jenna Berryhill struck out 12 batters while allowing only 1 hit and 4 walks. Berryhill was also 2 of 4 at the plate with an RBI. Aubrey Tann went 2 of 4 with 3RBIs and a double. Riley McKee was 2 of 4 as well with 3RBIs. Five other Lady Indians added hits in the win. Mississinewa will play the winner of tonight’s Marion-Bellmont game on Wednesday.

Tonight’s Events . There are no events tonight besides the Marion-Bellmont softball match-up at Mississinewa High School. Baseball Sectional starts tomorrow along with the Lady Indian’s second tournament game.

Weather Outlook . This morning, rain will move across the area and should clear up by game time this evening. Temperatures will reach the low 60s. Tomorrow’s forecast will be the same but temperatures will climb up to 80 by the 5:00pm first pitch for the Lady Indians.

Grant Four Titles and What’s Ahead

Indian News . The IHSAA Softball Sectional for the Lady Indians will be held at Mississinewa all week. Each game starts at 5:30pm with the TribeTV live stream starting no later than 5:15pm.

There will be a boys soccer call-out meeting on Tuesday, May 21 at 2:45pm in the MHS Library.

Don’t forget about renewing the IHSAA student-athletics physical for the new year. Information will be provided very soon from Athletic Director Young.

MHS Baseball . The Indians competed in Grant Four this past Saturday and lost in the first round to Oak Hill 6-5. Dakota Ancil pitched 4.2 innings giving up 3 hits with 2 strikeouts. Cade Campbell hit a home run, Carson Campbell went 3 of 4, while several Indians added a hit including a double from Kreigh Young.

The Junior Varsity Indians captured the 2019 Grant Four Championship at Madison Grant.

MHS Softball . The Lady Indians swept both Softball Grant Four titles this weekend. The varsity topped Madison Grant with a bottom of the 7th home run from Lexi Cruzan that drove in two runs for the 7-5 win.

The junior varsity team also captured a championship with the boys at Madison Grant.

Tonight’s Events . The Softball Sectional at Mississinewa highlights the start to the week with the Lady Indians facing Heritage in Game One tonight at 5:30pm. Game Two will also be streamed live on MCSC Athletic’s YouTube on Tuesday.

Weather Outlook . Today will feature cloudy skies with a high around 56. Rain will move in Tuesday afternoon for a brief period with temperatures getting up to 60. There is a good chance of rain from Wednesday into the weekend as Mississinewa Schools wind down the school year. Temperatures will climb into the 80’s most of the week after Tuesday afternoon.

Indian News . Softball was cancelled last night with no make-up date set due to the upcoming start of the 2019 IHSAA Sectional. Mississinewa will host this event starting Monday next week, with every game live on MCSC Athletic’s YouTube.

MHS Boys Track & Field . The Indians will send several runners to the Regional event after competing last night at Indiana Wesleyan. Brennan Butche won the 1600m and the 3200m. Heisman Skeens will advance in the long jump and the 200m while Elijah Standridge will go in the 100m. Jason Arbogast is still competing tonight at IWU with the possibility to advance in the discus.

Aurora Fisher qualified on Tuesday in the 3200m in an updated result from the IWU Girls Sectional.

Tonight’s Events . JV Baseball will host Anderson tonight at 5:00pm. The IHSAA Sectional at IWU for Boys Track & Field will wrap-up tonight since the event was cut short due to lightning. The remaining events will start at 5:00pm.

Weekend Events . On Saturday, the varsity Baseball and Softball Grant Four events will be held at Eastbrook High School beginning at 9:00 and 10:00am respectively. The junior varsity Grant Four event for both sports will be held at Madison Grant

Weather Outlook . Today, temperatures will climb up near 80 with a chance of rain beginning in the afternoon. Saturday should be the best day of the weekend with a high of 85 and sunny skies. Expect thunderstorms on Sunday with temps in the mid-70s.
