Tribe Sports Report

The Tribe Sports Report will be back when school reconvenes in January. Please follow MCSC Athletics on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube to stay in the action during the Christmas Break.

MHS Boys Basketball . The Indians won their third straight game last night, now 3-3, at Yorktown as they defeated the Tigers 64-39. The junior varsity squad also won 56-52 to extend their success to 6-1. Lucas Asbury and Hayden Ulerick led the JV in scoring with 21 and 14 respectively. The C-Team came up short falling to Yorktown 43-29. Statistics for the varsity game were not yet available.

Tonight’s Events . The R.J. Baskett girls basketball team plays at Madison Grant today at 5:00pm for the only event of the day.


Winter Break Events . As Mississinewa Schools closes down the first semester and moves to winter break, the Tribe Sports Report will take a break until school reconvenes. Follow MCSC Athletics on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube to gain access to everything Indian Athletics.

On Saturday December 22, Mississinewa will host the 2018 Boys Basketball Grant Four. The Indians will face Oak Hill at 10:00am, and the junior varsity team will play in the JV Championship at 2:00pm. Here is the day’s schedule:

  • 8:30am . JV Consolation Game
  • 10:00am . Mississinewa vs. Oak Hill
  • Noon . Eastbrook vs. Madison Grant
  • 2:00pm . JV Championship Game
  • 6:30pm . Varsity Consolation Game
  • 8:00pm . Varsity Championship Game

The Lady Indians will compete in the Grant Four the following Saturday at Eastbrook following a similar schedule as above. Wrestling will compete at the Connersville Invitational on Friday, December 28th. More events will fire up after the New Year’s holiday, and MCSC Athletics will be sure to keep you up-to-date on that schedule.

Today’s Sports World Update

NBA . The Pacers lost to a struggling Cavs team last night 92-91 on a Larry Nance dagger. Domantas Sabonis scored 17 points in the loss for Indiana. Indiana will play Toronto tonight at Scotiabank Arena (7:30pm).

NCAA Men’s Basketball . #2 Duke defeated Princeton last night by half a century, 101-50. RJ Barrett scored 27 points for the Blue Devils. #1 Kansas won over South Dakota 89-53 fueled by Dedric Lawson’s 16 point performance. Some of the upcoming big match-ups include Duke-Texas Tech (12/20), Buffalo-Marquette (12/21), and Kentucky-North Carolina on Saturday (12/22) at 5:15pm on CBS.

NFL . The Indianapolis Colts take on the New York Giants on Sunday, December 23rd at Lucas Oil Stadium (1:00pm, CBS) in Week 16 action. The Colts at 8-6 still have an outside shot at the playoffs. Andruw Luck is 49 yards away from the 4000 yards mark going into Sunday’s game.

JV Moves to Championship, Wrestling Grant Four

Tribe Sports Report

MHS Wrestling . Mississinewa placed third in the 2018 Grant Four at Oak Hill High School last night. The Indians defeated Eastbrook, and fell to Oak Hill and Madison Grant. Andruw Cruz and Courtland Smith were individual champions at the event.

MHS Girls Basketball . The JV Lady Indians moved into the Championship game by defeating Madison Grant 48-26 last night in Fairmount in Round One of the 2018 Junior Varsity Grant Four.

MHS Boys Basketball . The JV team will play at 2:00pm on Saturday in the Grant Four Championship game after defeating Madison Grant last night 49-38. Kreigh Young had 15 points as the Indians moved to 5-1 with that win.

Tonight’s Events . The boys basketball team will travel to Yorktown this evening for a 6:00pm tip against the Tigers. The C-Team will travel with the JV and Varsity as they will also tip at 6:00pm.

Today’s Sports World Update

NBA . The Pacers host the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight (7:00pm). Indiana is 20-10 on the season, while the Cavs are struggling at 7-23.N

NCAA Men’s Basketball . #1 Kansas faces South Dakota tonight (ESPN+, 8:00pm), and #2 Duke will host Princeton (ESPN2, 6:00pm) in two of their final tune-ups before starting conference play in the next few weeks. The Jayhawks are still undefeated, and Duke is steady with it’s only loss coming from a tough Gonzaga team in Maui.

Butche Tops List, Indians Sweep Argylls

Top 25 Fall Athletes . Mississinewa’s own Brennan Butche tops the list of the Top Fall Athletes in Grant County published by the Marion Chronicle-Tribune. The other Indian athletes were Heisman Skeens (6th), Cailyn Bolser (10th), Cade Campbell (14th), and Halle Planck (24th). 

MHS Girls Basketball . The Lady Indians defeated Madison Grant on Saturday with a 76-19 scoreline that featured a 21-2 first quarter. Caily Bolser recorded 24 points with 10 rebounds and 6 blocks to lead Mississinewa. McKee, Bartel, and Hewitt all added double-digit performances. The JV Lady Indians played the Argylls on Friday night also winning 33-25.

MHS Boys Basketball . The Indians grabbed a 2-0 seat in the CIC by defeating Madison Grant Friday evening 57-37. Landen Swanner scored 25 points in the win. Colin Yoder added 11 points to the total. The junior varsity also won by a score of 50-31. Hayden Ulerick and Colton Edwards had 10 points in the JV win, and Dakota Ancil led the team with 12 points. In the early event, the C-Team helped start the sweep with a 50-25 win.

Tonight’s Events . The 2018 Boys and Girls JV Basketball Grant Four Tournaments will launch tonight at Madison Grant High School at approximately 6:00pm. Coach Funk and the Indian Wrestlers travel to Oak Hill to compete in the Grant Four meet which starts at 6:00pm.

Today’s Sports World Update

NBA . The Indiana Pacers defeated New York 110-99 to move to 20-10. Victor Oladipo scored 26 points with 8 boards at Bankers Life.

NFL . Indianapolis took down the Cowboys 23-0 on Sunday. Marlon Mack had 27 carries on 139 yards, and T.Y. Hilton added 5 catches for 85 yards. Indy seems to be out of the 6th wild card spot as Pittsburgh defeated the Patriots this weekend.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . #25 Indiana scraped by unranked Butler on a game winning three to win at the Crossroads Classic 71-68. The big result of the weekend was #12 North Carolina handing #4 Gonzaga a 13 point loss in the Dean Dome. Tennesse, Kansas, and Michigan won to round out the top-five ranked teams in the country.N
