The Mississinewa Indians are in the middle of their seasons. Multiple matches/games a week and tough schedules ahead make it a very busy time of year. Talking to all of the coaches, their teams continue to work hard and strive to get better everyday. The ups and downs will come, but how will they respond ?
The football team needs to respond in a big way. After defeating Madison-Grant last year by a HUGE margin, the football team traveled to their cross county rival this past week and took a very tough loss by a score of 27 to 6. Players and coaches were at a loss for words after the game. Madison-Grant has gotten a lot better, but the Indians know they let this one get away. They will look to bounce back this week against another cross county rival in the Oak Hill Golden Eagles. This will not be an easy matchup, but the Indians are looking to respond in the right way. Kick-off is at 7pm on September 9th here at Fisher Field.
Both of the soccer teams continue their success early in the season. Both boys and girls defeated Muncie Central last night. 1 to 0 for the boys and 3 to 1 for the girls. Both teams are fighting hard and are looking to capture the schools first Sectional championship for either team. With the way things are starting out, they both have a great shot at doing just that.
The Tennis team is in a rebuild. With a new head coach and with the team losing its top 5 players from the year before to graduation, the team is building upon each match. Coach Jerod May likes what he has seen from his guys this year. Even in the losses, “my guys know how to fight until the very end,” says Coach May. They picked up a big 4 to 1 win last night and look to start a winning streak next week!
Another team in need of a response is the volleyball team. A very young squad has had a very rough go of things early on in the season. Only winning 2 to 3 matches so far, new Head Coach Victoria Dittmar still likes where her team is headed. “We have a young team, but they work hard every practice and strive to be better. Just have to get the small details in place still.”
Be sure to check in throughout the season for updates !
