Ole Miss Tries For Third Title In Five Years

Tonight the Mississinewa Indians football team will host the IHSAA Sectional 20 Championship as they welcome the Ft. Wayne Wayne Generals to Fisher Field. Last week was very competitive game for Ole Miss defeating New Haven by a final score of 42-27. With his performance from last weeks ball game Senior RB Carson Campbell has been nominated to receive votes for MaxPreps player of the week. Meanwhile, Wayne defeated Delta 41-27 last week. Girls Basketball

Last night was the start of the 2021-2022 Girls Basketball season for Laura Friday and the Lady Indians. Mississinewa got off to a great start leading at the end of the first quarter 19-11. In the second quarter Northfield would draw within four points, Mississinewa would then go on a 15-6 run to end out the half leading 36-22. The first half full court press that Ole Miss presented gave the Lady Norse fits causing them to turn the ball over 19 times in the first half. In the second half Northfield began to march there way back into the game by going on an 10-0 run to start the half. Ole Miss would rally off a few points making the game just nine heading into the fourth quarter leading 44-35. At the 1:27 mark in the fourth quarter the Lady Norse would draw within one before a Megan Stanley transition basket and the foul. Stanley missed the free throw, Lady Norse guard Elli Baker would launch a three at the far end of the court missing before Karmen Swindall would pull down the board. Mississinewa would go on to knock down free throws down the stretch to improve to 1-0 on the year winning 58-53. The Lady Indians are back in action Tuesday at #5 Norwell in 3A.
