The 2021 Volleyball season started off with a bang for Jody Havens and the Mississinewa Lady Indians defeating Eastern(Greentown) 3 sets to 1. Ole Miss battled through adversity throughout the match but with 5 Senior leaders the Indians were able to pull through. “It was nice to the leadership from our girls on the court” said Havens. Defensively Ole Miss found a rhythm which led to the offense heating up as the match went on. “Our goal for tonight was to maintain out intensity from the beginning of the match to the end of it, the girls did a nice job and earned an early win” stated Havens Monday night. “We have plenty to work on in the next two days of practice but I’m proud of tonight’s effort”. Individually Sophie Corey led the Indians with 30 digs, Mia Catey led the Indians with 8 kills followed by Megan Stanley and Carly Bolser with 5. Carly Bolser led way scoring 8 service aces followed by Mackenzie Austin’s 5. Mia Catey had 9 solo blocks along with 3 assist, Jazzy Nicholson led the team in assist with 18. The Lady Indians return to court Thursday as they host Western at 6pm.

Boys Tennis
The Mississinewa Indians Boys Tennis team started the 2021 season with a 5-0 win over Bluffton last night in Gas City. Riley Fuqua won #1 Singles 6-0,6-0. Hayden Rowley won #2 Singles 6-0,6-0. John Oliver took care of business at #3 Singles winning 6-0,6-0. The #1 Doubles team comprised of Ryan Scott and Ethan Sample won their match 6-1,6-0. #2 Doubles won 6-1,6-1 with Kannen Smith and Garrett Spencer. The Boys Tennis team returns to action this Thursday when they travel to Kokomo.

TONIGHT
Tonight both the Mississinewa Boys and Girls soccer teams will kick off their seasons. The Boys will travel to Peru for a 6pm match. Meanwhile, the Girls will travel to Maconaquah that match is also scheduled for 6pm. Follow along with Ole Miss Soccer on Twitter @Ole_MissSoccer
