Jody Havens enters her 4th season as the leader of the Mississinewa Volleyball program, her team has improved each year since she first arrived. The Volleyball team ended the season 18-13 last fall and a 4th place finish in the CIC Conference. The Indian Volleyball program showed spurts last season where they played nearly to perfection, other times they tended to struggle. What has been fun for most fans has been the pride that these girls have shown while representing the Mississinewa community. The Indians will be led by 5 seniors this season all with big goals in mind. “I just want us to all grow as a team and work together every game, we have so much potential when we play together and for each other” said Senior Sophie Corey. “We have a ton of potential and I’m hoping we can take full advantage of it this season” said Senior Carly Bolser. Bolser comes into her Senior season after a phenomenal Junior year ending the season 8th in the state with blocks in class 3A. Both Corey and Bolser stated “we want to win Grant 4 and make a nice run in the postseason”. The Indian Volleyball program will also be led by Mia Catey, Megan Stanley, and Jazzy Nicholson along with Bolser and Corey. “I just want to get closer with the girls and have fun, we are capable of doing big things this season and we should definitely accomplish them with the girls we have” said Nicholson. “I just want us to grow as a team and I would love to win the Grant 4” said Senior Megan Stanley after practice on Monday. The Indians open their season on the road this coming Thursday August 12th at 6pm as they will take on Jay County. The home opener for Ole Miss will be next Thursday August 19th at 6pm as they welcome Western.
