Girls Tennis: Last night, the Olemiss Tennis Team hosted undefeated Western. The Indians fought hard and took the match into a 3rd set at the #2 Singles position before dropping a 3-2 decision. Madison Fuqua and the doubles team of Ella Frantz / Hallie Sullivan won their varsity matches. The Indians are now 6-3 on the season and will host conference rival Madison Grant on Thursday. #1 doubles stays undefeated at 9-0

MLB- The National League Central continues to be a very fun and interesting division. After losing seven consecutive games the Cincinnati Reds have now won two straight against the best team in baseball the Los Angeles Dodgers winning last night 6-5. Jesse Winker continues to be the storyline of the series batting 5/10 in the series for a 500 batting average, he also has Four RBI’s and Two HR’s. NL Central keep an eye on the Cincinnati Reds; they could be a dangerous team this season. Elsewhere in the NL Central the Pittsburgh Pirates continue to play good baseball with a win over the Kansas City Royals 2-1 last night. The Chicago Cubs lost in a shutout to the Atlanta Braves 5-0, the Cards from St. Louis were winners over the Phillies. The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Miami Marlins 5-4.
Motorsports- The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will return to action this Friday night at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Kentucky for the 17th annual John Bradshaw Memorial with the winner taking home $12,000. Saturday May 1st Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will then travel to the Florence Speedway in Florence, Kentucky for the Ralph Latham Memorial paying $15,000 to win. The top 5 in the point standings are led by Tim McCreadie from Watertown, NY with 1765 points. Martinsville, Indiana native Hudson O’Neal is 2nd 1725 points, Brandon Sheppard is 3rd, Devin Moran 4th, and Kyle Bronson is 5th. The Plymouth Speedway in Plymouth, Indiana kicks off the 2021 season this Saturday night with “Cabin Fever” they invite everyone to “The Playground Of Power”. Also in racing action locally is the Circus City Speedway in Peru, Indiana. Dalton Bishop, a member of TribeTV and The TribeSportsNetwork will be in the announcer’s booth on Saturday night before being in a race car next Friday Night at the Gas City I69 Speedway.

Local News- Grant County restaurants, businesses, and schools continue searching for help. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected everyone in some sort of way making most of the businesses in Grant County very desperate for help. “I have owned this business for 49 years, never in 49 years have I been this short staffed nor this desperate for help” said Dane Franklin the owner of Myers Drive In. “We are currently seeking waitresses to help out, if you are without a job it is simply because you aren’t seeking to find a job because these places are looking”.
