INDIANS TAKE DOWN MARION WITH SECONDS LEFT

Today’s Tribe Sports Report written by the Tribe Sports Network Director Ryan Scott.

Boys Basketball: A pre-Thanksgiving game was stuffed with high-intensity from both teams but what meant the most for Mississinewa was that they took down their long-time rival for only the 5th time since 1953. The score was tied with 2.9 seconds left on the clock and Mississnewa had possession, and then the Tribe called a timeout. Junior Landon Swanner took the ball out for Mississinewa. With a bounce pass to Anthony Horten, Horten goes sideline and gets fouled by Marion’s JK Thomas. Then from there Horten heads to the line for two shots. The first shot goes in and Indian fans went crazy, then Horten’s second free throw was just as perfect as the first one. Marion had the ball with seconds left but couldn’t get a shot off as the clock expired. With that said Indians took the victory at Marion 80-78. Not only did 2nd-year head coach James Reed earn his first win of the season but he earned one of his best wins in program history. The Indians open their home opener this Saturday for a C, JV, and Varsity contest. Watch LIVE on MCSC Athletics Youtube.
