Tennis & Track Brave the Weekend Weather

Tribe Sports Report

MHS Softball . The opening rounds of IHSAA Class 3A tournament play were announced this past weekend. The Lady Indians will host Sectional 23 and play Heritage in Game 1. Marion will take on Bellmont in Game 2, and Norwell faces Columbia City in Game 4. TribeTV is planning to stream the entire tournament LIVE on MCSC Athletics YouTube.

MHS Track & Field . The boys and girls placed 3rd at the Grant Four Track & Field Meet this past Friday evening. Oak Hill took the top spot followed by Eastbrook, Mississinewa, and Madison Grant. The team scores were 88.5-76.5-47-31 for the boys respectively, and 105-68-44-24 for the girls.

Carli Fones won the 100m at 13.35, the 200m at 27.19, and the 400m at 1:01.48 while Beth Lucas won the 300 hurdles at 48.06. Brennan Butche won both of the events for the boys team. Butche took the 1600m at 4:26.13 and the 3200m at 9:44.65.

MHS Softball . The Lady Indians fell to Oak Hill on Friday 9-5. No official statistics were reported for this event.

MHS Girls Tennis . The Lady Indians competed in the Homestead Invitational on Saturday. The event was shortened due to weather and no team winner was declared. Heidi Rowley made it to the championship round by defeated top seeds from Lafayette Harrison and Huntington North. Rowley lost in a super tie-break finish. Tyra Stanley and Maggie Herring came away with wins in round one, and Ella Frantz and Taylor Kern earned a win in round two against Concordia.

Tonight’s Events . JV Baseball is on the road tonight at Oak Hill and RJB Soccer plays at Fisher Field. Tomorrow the Indians return to action as Girls Tennis travels to Alexandria, and Track & Field venture to Oak Hill to battle the Eagles and Tigers. Both of those events begin at 5:00pm. At 5:30pm, Baseball and Softball throw the first pitch against the Frankton Eagles on the road.

Don’t forget that the Grant Four Tournaments for Baseball and Softball have been rescheduled to Saturday, May 18th.

College Signings . Congratulations to Amaya David on signing with Middlebury this past week to play softball and continue her academic career.
