Winter Sports Awards . The 2019 Mississinewa High School Winter Sports Award program will be held on Thursday, March 7 at 7:00pm in the high school cafeteria as the season came to an official end last night.

eSports . Sign-ups for the Spring Majors, the next season of eSports at Mississinewa, have begun. Games for this season include Overwatch, Dragonball Fighter Z, League of Legends, Rocket League, Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, and HearthStone. Contact Mr. Armes in the MHS Business Department for more information. This season begins March 18th.

Unified Basketball . The athletes of Unified Basketball are in full swing with their competitive season. Mississinewa will host on Thursday beginning at 7:00pm. This game will be streamed live by TribeTV.

MHS Boys Basketball . The Indians season officially ended last night at the IHSAA Sectional 23 at Bellmont in Decatur where Mississinewa lost 60-40 against the Norwell Knights. The shots were not falling for the Indians in a very physical game. Larry Dean finished with 10 points to lead Ole Miss in scoring, as he was the only player in double figures for the team. Tonight’s Events . There are no events between RJ Baskett and Mississinewa High School this evening. Track and Field will compete in the Indoor Meet at Indiana Wesleyan this Saturday and next starting at 9:00am.

Today’s Sports World Update

MLB . Spring training has arrived as the season approaches for Major League Baseball. The Cardinals, Tigers, and White Sox picked up wins yesterday just to mention a few of the teams in action. The Yankees and Phillies were postponed due to weather.

NBA . The Knicks, Raptors, and Nuggets all won last night in pro-hoops. Indiana plays Dallas tonight at 8:30pm. The Pacers are 40-21 on the season heading into tonight’s contest.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . Duke fell to #3 this week in the polls after rivalry week and lost again last night to #20 Virginia Tech as the team continues to miss star Zion Williamson. The Hoosiers took a double-overtime win from Wisconsin 75-73 which Coach Miller hopes is a spark to salvage the season. #4 Kentucky and #5 North Carolina also picked up big wins in their respective conferences.

NCAA Women’s Basketball . #2 UCONN defeated Wichita State 84-47 last night in women’s division one hoops. #20 Iowa State also picked up a win against Texas Tech.

Golf  . Martin Trainer won last weekend’s Puerto Rico Open at Coco Beach. The PGA Tour will be at Palm Beach Gardens in Florida this weekend for the Honda Classic at the PGA National Champions Course. Justin Thomas won this event last year.

Soccer . Everton, Huddersfield, Leicester, and Newcastle won yesterday in the Premier League. The second half of the field will play today.

NHL . The Coyotes took the Panthers into a shootout last night and won 4-3 for the big result in hockey

NAIA Athletics . Indiana Wesleyan Men’s Basketball defeated Mount Vernon Nazarene of Ohio yesterday to claim the Crossroads tournament title with a score of 76-70.
