Wrestlers Advance to Semi-State, Hoops Recap

Tribe Sports Report

Call-Out Meetings . Today there will be a few call-out meetings at MHS for athletes interested in spring sports. Track and Field will meet at 2:40pm in The Pit. Questions regarding track can be directed to Coach Arbogast. At 5:30pm, Coach Miller and any girls interested in Softball will meet in the MHS Cafeteria.

MHS Football . The Manchester Team Camp is being organized and any player interested in attending must contact Coach Funk or Coach Greentree by Friday, February 4th to lock-in their spot.

MHS Wrestling . At the Peru Regional on Saturday, the Indians placed all three of their wrestlers to advance to the Ft. Wayne Semi-State. Kyler Funk finished 2nd at 182, Courtland Smith placed 3rd at 145, and Andruw Cruz finished 4th at 220. More information on this Semi-State will be provided later this week.

MHS Girls Basketball . The Lady Indians season came to an end on Friday at the IHSAA Sectional at Norwell High School against a very tough Columbia City team. Mississinewa lost 52-32 to the Eagles and finished the season at 13-10. Tyler Bartel scored 15 points in the loss.

MHS Boys Basketball . Coach Reed and the Indians traveled to Royerton on Saturday to take on the 18-0 Delta Eagles who sit towards the top of the 3A poll. The Indians lost 51-34 after keeping pace with the Eagles early. The JV team lost 47-43 in a very close game the entire way, and were led by Bryce Leudtke with 15 points.

RJB Athletics . The 7th grade Girls Basketball team captured the CIC Championship on Saturday. The 8th grade Boys Basketball team also won the Maconaquah Tournament.

Tonight’s Events . The RJB 6th grade Boys Basketball team will take on Oak Hill at home starting at 6:00pm.

Today’s Sports World Update

NFL . The New England Patriots are the Super Bowl Champions after defeating the Los Angelos Rams last night 13-3 in Atlanta. Tom Brady was 21-35 with 262 yards. Sony Michael had 18 carries for 94 yards including the only touchdown of the game. Julian Edelman had 10 receptions for 141 yards. This was the Patriots sixth title.

NBA . The Indiana Pacers take on the Pelicans tonight on the road at 8:00pm in the Smoothie King Center. Indiana is 33-19 overall, and 15-12 traveling.

PGA Golf . Rickie Fowler won the Phoenix Open this weekend at TPC Scottsdale with a 74 final round to shoot 17-under total.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . The big story from this past weekend is #17 Purdue topping Minnesota, and now the Boilermakers sit atop the Big Ten with a 9-2 conference record. Tonight’s “Big Monday” game features #12 Virginia Tech against #15 Louisville at 7:00pm on ESPN.

NCAA Women’s Basketball . The Lady Boilers lost to #22 Michigan State 74-66 on Sunday. #5 Notre Dame dismantled Georgia Tech 90-50 to move to 8-1 in the ACC.

NAIA Athletics . Indiana Wesleyan Baseball plays a double-header today against Saint Xavier of Illinois beginning at 1:00pm. The Taylor Trojans Baseball team plays at double-header at Westfield, Indiana against Cornerstone University starting at 1:00pm today.
