Wrestling Takes Third, Girls Hoops Over Bruins

Tribe Sports Report

MHS Wrestling . The Indians took 3rd place in the 2019 CIC Wrestling Tournament. Day Two was postponed until this past evening from Saturday due to weather but the Indians came back to Elwood High School strong finishing the event at 5-2. Courtland Smith won the Conference Championship at 145.

MHS Girls Basketball . Girls Hoops traveled to Blackford last night and defeated the Bruins 49-12 in a CIC event. The leading scorers were Ally Hewitt (13), Caily Bolser (12), and Riley McKee (8). Darrah Watson had seven steals on the defensive end.

Tonight’s Events . Boys Basketball travels to Wabash to take on the Apaches at 6:00pm tonight for the only event of the evening.

Today’s Sports World Update

NCAA Men’s Basketball . Unranked Syracuse defeated a depleted #1 Duke team last night in Cameron Indoor 95-91 in overtime. Cam Reddish was sidelined with an illness, and Duke lost another starter about five minutes in when Tre Jones went out with a shoulder injury. Indiana lost to Nebraska, #7 Kansas topped Texas, and Pittsburgh handed #11 Florida State its second tough loss in a row.

NFL . The Indianapolis Colts lost to Kansas City this past week putting the Chiefs through to face the New England Patriots on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium (6:40pm, CBS). The other conference championship will feature the Los Angelas Rams and the New Orleans Saints on Sunday in New Orleans (3:05pm, FOX).
