Tribe Sports Report

Indians Football is on the road Friday at New Haven. Kickoff is at 7:00pm, and the Bulldogs are celebrating the installation of a new turf field. Admission will be free to all who attend.

MHS Boys Tennis . Mississinewa Boys Tennis was able to complete their match with the Western Panthers on Wednesday night and picked up a 4-1 win. This victory moves the Indians to 3-1 on the season with Northwestern coming to town tonight, and a tournament scheduled at Mooresville this weekend. Conner Murphy, John Oliver, and Hayden Rowley swept the Singles matches. Ryan Scott and Riley Fuqua picked up a Doubles victory 6-1, 6-1 to wrap up the varsity contests. The JV squad won 1-0.

MHS Girls Golf . The Lady Indians defeated Bluffton at Shady Hills last night 228-232. Maggie Labarr was the medalist for the event with a 50. Peighten Allen (53) and Anabella Pannell (59) rounded out the top scores for the girls.

MHS Volleyball . Volleyball defeated the Norseman of Northfield last night 3-1. The set scores were 25-21, 25-17, 20-25, and 25-23. The Lady Indians are now 4-3 on the season. Cailyn Bolser had 20 kills, 2 aces, 3 blocks, and 20 digs. Halle Planck recorded 16 kills and 3 blocks. Madison Stanley added 24 digs with Emily Taylor’s 25. Tyra Stanley passed for 19 assists, and Jenna Berryhill added 24 assists.

Tonight’s Events . Boys Tennis will host Northwestern tonight at 5:00pm. Volleyball will travel to the Raider Dome to face Southern Wells at 6:00pm. Boys Soccer rounds out the evening’s action five miles down the road at Marion for a 6:00pm kick-off with the Giants. RJB Athletics begins this weekend with junior high cross country at Taylor University.

Today’s Sports World Update

PGA Golf . The Northern Trust opens up today in New Jersey at Ridgewood. Dustin Johnson won this event last year. Brooks Koepka, Tiger Woods, Justin Thomas, and Johnson all have teed off this morning in the opening round.

NFL . The Philadelphia Eagles are in Cleveland for Preseason Week 3 tonight at 8:00pm on Fox. The season officially launches September 6, and Indianapolis will face Cincinnati in their opener a few days later.

NCAA Football . College football returns this weekend. There are no Top 25 games, however until next Thursday.

Premiere League Soccer . Manchester City opens up the weekend against Wolves Saturday morning at 7:30am. The Red Devils look to bounce back after a huge upset at BHA last weekend. United takes on Spurs on Monday at 3:00pm.
