Tribe Sports Report
MHS Girls Tennis . Coach Fleming and the Lady Indians picked up a CIC win last night against Alexandria 4-1. Tyra Stanley moved to 12-0 on the season, and the Singles spots swept the Tigers. The Doubles matches were split 1-1. Mississinewa is now 3-0 in the conference and 8-1 on the season heading into another CIC clash with the Blackford Bruins in Hartford City tonight.
MHS Track & Field . The boys track team came in second last night as Oak Hill won the meet 84.5-34-28.5. Alexandria came in last in the boys event. The 4x800m team of Jacob Ehmer, Zak Huffman, Cory Quakenbush, and Brennan Butche broke the school record with a time of 8:32.83. Tabias Mead won the 100m, Butche won the 800m, Gage Peterson won the 200m, and the 4x100m team came in first in that relay.
The Lady Indians track also came in second to Oak Hill 87.5-48-22.5 last night. Beth Lucas won both hurdles events. Carlie Fones won the 100m and 200m sprints.
MHS Baseball . Mississinewa lost last night to the Frankton Eagles in CIC action at home 10-3. Frankton opened the game with a 4-run first inning, and then added 3 more runs in the top of the third to jump out to a big lead. Conner Fritch took the loss on the mound pitching 3 innings and giving away 7 runs on 6 hits and a walk. Jalen Martin finished the game for the Indians striking out 3, but giving up 3 runs on 4 innings pitched. Cade McCoin was 1-1 on 3 plate appearances. Seth Maddox added the only other Indian hit of the game. Landen Swanner was credited with Mississinewa’s only RBI of the game.
MHS Softball . The Lady Indians hosted Frankton last night and suffered a similar fate as the Indians Baseball team did. Mississinewa lost 8-2 in the varsity game of last night’s double-header. Cierra Vasquez was credited with the loss allowing 5 runs on 7 hits with 2 strikeouts. Jenna Berryhill also pitched allowing 3 runs on 4 hits. Madison Stanley went 2-3 at the plate, and Shelby Goble knocked in 2 RBIs off of a double.
The JV team defeated Frankton in game two 9-2 in 5 innings to keep their successful season rolling. Ireland Thien picked up the win allowing only 1 hit while striking out 8. Justyce Moore was 2-3 with 3 RBIs, Kaycee Sands was 1-3 including a double with 2 RBIs, and Amaris Hickman rounded out the top plate appearances going 1-2 with a triple.
Schedule Updates . This Saturday, May 5th, Indians Baseball will fill some gaps in their schedule with more opportunities for success. The JV will host Bluffton at 10:00am followed by the Varsity taking on Wabash at noon.
Tonight’s Events . Baseball will host Southern Wells tonight in a non-conference game as the JV team travels to Madison Grant. Baseball action begins at 5:00pm. Girls Tennis serves up some action at Blackford tonight for another CIC match at 5:00pm. Boys Golf hosts Madison Grant at Shady Hills. Tee time is 4:30pm. The only R.J. Baskett event for this evening is RJB Softball taking on Northwestern at 5:30pm in the park.

NHL . Washington defeated Pittsburgh 4-3 last night. Nicklas Backstrom had 3 points. The Capitals lead 2 games to 1. Winnipeg won big over Nashville 7-4 with 3 players pulling in 3 points. The Jets lead 2 games to 1 in their series.
