Corey Shoots Frosh Record, Baseball & Softball Sweep Bruins, and Track Results

Tribe Sports Report

MHS Track & Field . The girls and boys both lost to Eastbrook last night in Upland. The boys were defeated 99-33. Jon Alsup won the 3200, and the 4×800 relay placed first. The girls team lost 84-35. Carli Fones won the 100m and 400m. Alayna Webb placed first in the long jump. Mississinewa will host the Grant Four Meet on Friday beginning at 5:00pm.

MHS Baseball . Mississinewa swept the Bruins in CIC Baseball and Softball last night. Coach Scott and the Indians won 8-5 over Blackford after posting a 4-run sixth inning. Cade McCoin picked up the win on the mound allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and a walk with 3 strikeouts. Easton Burton batted 2-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs, Cade McCoin went 2-2 with a double, and Tyler Jakob, Andrew Castanon, and Colin Yoder all batted 2-3.

MHS Softball . The Lady Indians defeated Blackford last night 25-1. Jenna Berryhill pitched, allowing 1 run on 4 hits and a walk while striking out 6. Berryhill also hit 5-5 with 2 doubles and a 2 RBIs. Riley McKee went 4-6 with 2 doubles and 4 RBIs. Madison Stanley and Madison Dotterweich both hit home runs.

MHS Boys Golf . Ty Corey shot a 36 as medalist in his sixth varsity match to set a record as a Freshman. The Indians defeated Elwood 167-247 at Elwood Golf Links. Breyton Berryhill placed second with Josh Dakin with a 40. Justin Dakin was 12 over for 48. Andrew Alexander shot a 61 for the JV.

Tonight’s Events . MHS Girls Tennis will travel to Western tonight for a 4:30pm match. RJB Track & Field hosting Madison Grant and Blackford at 4:30pm in a CIC showdown at Mississinewa High School.

Today’s Sports World Update

NBA . The Indiana Pacers are tied with the Cleveland Cavaliers at two games apiece heading into Game 5 of the Eastern Conference First Round series. The Cavs will look to take advantage of their home court tonight at 7:00pm. The game is available on TNT.

NHL . The Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins will play Game 7 tonight of their series in Boston at 7:30pm on the NBC Sports Network.
