Tribe Sports Report
MHS Track & Field . Boys Track defeated Frankton and Blackford 79-42-36 in that order at Wednesday’s CIC showdown. The boys won three relays. Cory Quakenbush won the 400 and high jump, Andre Salade won the 100, and Brennan Butche took the 1600 and 3200. Heisman Skeens won the long jump.
The Lady Indians finished in the middle of Frankton and Blackford 62-49.5-35.5 in that order. Aurora Fisher broke the school record in the 3200 at 12:28. Haleigh Skeens captured the long jump and 100m. Beth Lucas won the 100 high hurdles. The girls 4×100 also took first place at last night’s meet.
MHS Boys Golf . Shady Hills was a mess, but the Indians defeated Frankton last night 172-210. Josh Dakin shot a 38 to lead the Indians with Breyton Berryhill making a 42.
MHS Girls Tennis . The Lady Indians took down CIC opponent Elwood 5-0 on the road last night. All three singles did not lose a game to the Panthers. The JV team also won 6-2. Rileigh Zirkle and Alexis Tignor won their JV singles matches then paired up to win a doubles match. Coach Fleming and the Lady Indians face Wabash on Friday before hosting Manchester Saturday morning.
MHS Softball . Softball was on the road facing Kokomo Taylor last night and lost in 9 innings to the Titans 5-4. Jenna Berryhill gave up 8 hits with 7 strikeouts in her pitching battle. Shelby Goble hit a home run with 3 RBIs. Riley McKee and Darcie Patton added doubles to the stat-line.
The JV Lady Indians stayed home to romp Southwood 31-0 in 5 innings. Ireland Thien threw a complete game allowing only one hit with 13 strikeouts and 2 walks on the mound. Herring, Sands, Moore, and Smalley rocked the Southwood Lady Knights at the plate to provide the bulk of the Mississinewa JV action.
MHS Baseball . The JV Indians won last night 7-5 over the Frankton Eagles to pick up their first win of the season.
RJB Track & Field . The Boys track team lost to Frankton and defeated Alexandria 72-52-17. Peyton McPeak won the 110 hurdles and the 200m, Lucas Asbury won the shot put, and Seth Workman won the high jump and long jump. The boys 4×100 relay also took first.
Tonight’s Events . Baseball and Softball host Madison Grant tonight at 5:00pm. The JV Lady Indians will play the Argylls at approximately 6:00pm. Boys Golf travels to Wabash for a 5:00pm tee time. For the Junior Indians at R.J. Baskett, RJB Softball will take Madison Grant at 5:30pm in the park. RJB Soccer faces King’s Academy at Ballard Field for a 6:00pm kickoff. At Mississinewa High School, RJB Track & Field will host Oak Hill at 4:30pm.

NBA . The Indiana Pacers lost last night in Game Two of the NBA Playoffs to the Cleveland Cavaliers 100-97. Victor Oladipo scored 22 points to lead Indiana while Lebron James dropped 46 points to barely carry the Cavs to victory. The series is tied 1-1. Game Three is Friday on ESPN.
PGA Tour . The Valero Texas Open kicks off today in San Antonio. Last year’s winner was Kevin Chappell. This year’s purse is $6.2 million.
NASCAR . The Monster Cup Energy Series sets it’s sights on the Richmond International Raceway. Racing begins this Saturday, April 21st at 6:30pm on Fox.
MLB . The Cincinnati Reds fired Bryan Price after a 3-15 start to his fifth season with the club. Here are the latest scores from the midwest in Major League Baseball…
