JV Baseball and Softball Schedule Updates, OMYS Reminder

Tribe Sports Report

Reminder from Athletic Director Chanse Young, all spring athletes must have a physical on file in the front office before they can participate, try-out, and work with the Spring teams.

Ole Miss Youth Sports . Tri-County Girls Softball Try-outs will be on Saturday, March 17 at 3:00pm in the Auxiliary Gym at Mississinewa High School. Gregg Stepp is the contact for this event at 765-251-1175.

MHS Softball . JV Softball games with Wes-Del and Cass have been cancelled for this season due to a lack of players from the other schools.

MHS Baseball . The JV Baseball game with Southern Wells on April 23 has been cancelled.

 

Tonight’s Events . There are no events until after Spring Break for Mississinewa Athletics.


Today’s Sports World Update

NCAA Men’s Basketball . Butler and Purdue were the only two Indiana-based teams to make the field and will play on Friday. The field of 64 is set for March Madness as #10 Oklahoma faces off against #7 Rhode Island in the opening game today at 12:15pm in the Midwest Region at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh. This first game is live on CBS. Fans can watch the all the games on truTV, CBS, TNT, and TBS along with the NCAA March Madness on Demand app or online.

NCAA Women’s Basketball . Ball State, Purdue, and Indiana will open up action in the Women’s NIT today. Notre Dame, who received a number one seed in the Women’s NCAA tournament will play on Friday at 5:00pm.

NBA . Indiana will play the Raptors tonight at 7:00pm. Victor Oladipo continues to lead the Pacers with 23.6 points per game. Indiana is 40-28 heading into tonight’s contest at Banker’s Life Fieldhouse.

NASCAR . The Auto Club Speedway will host the Monster Energy Series at California on Sunday, March 18. Racing begins at 3:30pm on Fox.

PGA Golf . The Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill has begun. Marc Leishman is the reigning champ. This weekend’s purse is $8.9 million. Tiger Woods had his opening swing at 8:23am. The final group will tee off around 2:10pm.

MLB . The Chicago Cubs will be the first game to start on Opening Day of the 2018 season on Thursday, March 29 at 12:30pm as they travel to Miami. The game will be live on ESPN. Jon Lester is slated to start on the mound. Other games on Opening Day that are available on ESPN are Houston and Texas, San Francisco at Los Angeles, and Cleveland at Seattle.
