Baseball & Softball Try-Outs

Tribe Sports Report

Reminder from Athletic Director Chanse Young, all spring athletes must have a physical on file in the front office before they can participate, try-out, and work with the Spring teams.

MHS Baseball . Try-outs for the 2018 Mississinewa High School Baseball team will begin Monday, March 12th at 7:00pm in the Auxiliary Gym. Please contact Coach Mike Scott for more information.

MHS Softball . Try-outs started Monday, March 5th for the 2018 season. Practices are continuing all week beginning at 7:00pm. Please contact Coach Steve Miller for questions or concerns.

This Week’s Events . The 6th grade basketball season continues with several contests this week. RJB wrestling reaches the midpoint of their season. This March we are celebrating the Unified Champions teams. This week kicks off a series of great events. Be sure to follow MCSC Athletics on Facebook and Twitter for all the breaking updates.


Today’s Sports World Update

PGA Tour . The Valspar Championship at Innisbrook begins today in Florida. The defending champ is Adam Hadwin. Tiger Woods is playing the first two rounds with Jordan Spieth and Henrik Stenson. The trio begins play at 12:46 today.

NASCAR . The Monster Energy Cup sets it’s sights on the Phoenix International Raceway this Sunday, March 11. Racing begins at 3:30pm.

MLB . Opening Day is quickly approaching as all teams will play on Thursday, March 29th. This is the first time since 1968 that every MLB team will open on the same day. The Cubs open at Miami, Houston at Texas, St. Louis at the Mets, the Royals will host the White Sox, and the fully-stocked Yankees will travel to Toronto just to name a few of the match-ups from day one.

NBA . The Utah Jazz defeated the Pacers last night 104-84. Myles Turner had 24 points on 10 of 14 shooting. Rudy Gobert led the Jazz with 23. Indiana is now 37-28 on the season.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . Notre Dame defeated Virginia Tech 71-65 in the ACC Men’s Tournament last night. Matt Farrell had 22 points for the Irish. Notre Dame will now face Duke in the Quarterfinals tonight at 7:00pm on ESPN. Ball State takes on Kent State in the MAC Quarterfinals today at 2:30pm, and the struggling Butler Bulldogs will play Seton Hall in the quarters of the Big East Tournament.

NCAA Women’s Basketball . Ball State lost to Western Michigan last night in the Quarterfinals of the MAC Lady’s Tournament 65-54.

NAIA Men’s Basketball . The Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats face Antelope Valley today in the Round of 32. Game time is set for 1:00pm.

NAIA Women’s Basketball . The Taylor Lady Trojans defeated Northwest Christian 61-54 last night. Indiana Wesleyan also won 78-65 over Olivet. Taylor will face Concordia on Friday at 11:15am in the Second Round as the Lady Wildcats will play Southeastern at 1:00pm in the Round of 16.
