Football takes First in 7th Annual Weight Bash

Tribe Sports Report

MHS Football . The Indians took first place last night in the 7th annual Spring Bash weight lifting event which reflects similar events to the NFL combine. Heisman Skeens took first place overall in the 40 yard dash. Skylar Tackett won first place in overall weight on the bench press. Six Indians placed in the top ten in coefficient on the bench press. Jason Arbogast and Skylar Tackett placed top ten in coefficient in the rack. Andruw Cruz won first place overall in the power clean. Mississinewa had 23 football players in the top 65 finishers for the entire event.

This Week’s Events . The 6th grade basketball season continues with several contests this week. RJB wrestling reaches the midpoint of their season. Today’s Sports World Update

PGA Tour . Phil Mickelson won the World Golf Championships in Mexico this past weekend earning $1.7 million. Mickelson defeated Justin Thomas in a playoff on Hole 17. The Valspar Championship at Innisbrook is this weekend in Florida. The defending champ is Adam Hadwin.

MLB . Opening Day is quickly approaching as all teams will play on Thursday, March 29th. This is the first time since 1968 that every MLB team will open on the same day. The Cubs open at Miami, Houston at Texas, St. Louis at the Mets, the Royals will host the White Sox, and the fully-stocked Yankees will travel to Toronto just to name a few of the match-ups from day one.

NBA . Bojan Bogdanovic scored 29 points to lead the Pacers to a 92-89 win over the Bucks last night.

NCAA Men’s Basketball . #15 Michigan defeated #8 Purdue 75-66 to claim the Big Ten title for the second straight year. Moritz Wagner scored 17 points to lead the Wolverines. Isaac Haas had 23 points for Purdue. Notre Dame takes on Pitt today at 2:00pm in the ACC Men’s Tournament at New York Life. That game can be seen on ESPN2.

NCAA Women’s Basketball . The Butler Lady Bulldogs lost in the Big East quarterfinals to Marquette 73-61. #5 Notre Dame battled #4 Louisville, but the Irish lost 74-72 in the ACC Women’s Final.
