Cross Country . Brennan Butche ran for the second straight year at the IHSAA Cross Country State Finals in Terre Haute this past Saturday. Butche placed 5th (15:30) while representing Mississinewa, his team, and family with total class. Congratulations Brennan on another fantastic year.
Football . The Mississinewa Indians defeated the Marion Giants for the first time in history at Fisher Field on Friday 21-14. The last meeting between these two teams was in 1974. Senior Cade McCoin had two passing touchdowns (Heisman Skeens and Cade Campbell), and he ran one in himself. Freshman kicker Andre Sallade kicked three PAT’s. The Indian’s defense made huge plays including fumble recoveries by Drew Castanon, Hunter Smalley, and Tobias Mead.
Girls Basketball . First year coach Omega Tandy and the Lady Indians open up play on their new court Wednesday with a scrimmage against Tipton (6:00pm, Live on MCSC Athletics YouTube). Their first official game is at Kokomo Taylor on Saturday.
RJB Basketball . Boys Basketball practice this week opens with 8th graders, daily, from 5:00-7:00pm. The 7th grade team will practice from 7:00-9:00pm.
Football Tickets . Pre-Sale tickets will again be available starting Tuesday, October 31 for this Friday’s Sectional Championship against Western. Tickets can be purchased at Mississinewa High School’s Main Office daily from 7:30am to 3:00pm. Deadline for Pre-Sale purchase is Friday, October 3 at Noon. Tickets may be purchased at the gate on Friday. Gates will open at 6:00pm.

MLB . The Houston Astros defeated the Dodgers last night 13-12 in extra innings to take a 3-2 lead in the World Series. Game Six will be played in Los Angeles on Tuesday at 8:20pm (Fox) featuring Justin Verlander and Rich Hill.
NFL . Cincinnati defeated the Colts 24-23. Jacoby Brissett was 25-39 with one big Bengals interception late in the game.
NBA . The Indiana Pacers hosted the San Antonio Spurs and were victorious 97-94 led by Victor Oladipo’s 23 points on 7/14 shooting.
NCAA Men’s Basketball . The latest AP Coaches Poll Top Five includes Duke, Michigan State, Kansas, Kentucky, and Arizona. Pre-Season top team Duke opens Friday, November 10 with a non-conference game against Elon. Local teams opening games are listed below:
