Don’t forget to visit the Marion Chronicle-Tribune for great coverage of Mississinewa and Grant County Athletics. Thank you for spotlighting our seniors and providing coverage of our sports teams.
Mississinewa Indians Baseball had to wait since 1993 to have a piece of the CIC Championship. The team traveled to Frankton and defeated the 2A #7 Frankton Eagles 4-2 to earn a share of the CIC plate. Garrison Smith picked up the win on the mound. The Indians also converted a bases-loaded triple play to help conserve their win. Offensively, Cade McCoin and Tim Nemes had the highlight of the evening with back-to-back home runs. Congratulations Indians! They play Taylor tonight for Senior Honor Night starting at 4:50pm. Watch live on TribeTV (stream starts apprx. 4:30pm).
Softball was defeated for their Senior Night contest by Southwood 5-12. Kait Leavitt and Jenna Berryhill combined on the mound to give up 11 hits, 10 walks, while striking out 7. The defense for the Lady Indians had seven errors against Southwood. Aubrey Bennett and Kait Leavitt led the offense going two-for-three. Softball hosts Northwestern tonight starting at 5:00pm.
Girls Track & Field competed at Indiana Wesleyan University for IHSAA Sectionals last night. Carli Fones won the 100m and will also advance in the 200m in Regionals. Congratulations Carli!
